The poor on the ground led the struggle sababita ngemaphara🤦🏽‍♂️

You can’t win a struggle through being a thumb warrior. This struggle needs everyone. The footsoldiers won’t have the same reasoning as the lawyer/journo who is part of the struggle but all are IMPORTANT

We need the writer and the journalists to tell our story to all who have ears to hear. We need investigative journalists to expose the looting, the cruelty and the criminality by this regime. We need new literature in this country to be about the struggle for freedom

We need the lawyers to challenge the human rights abuses and test the constitution and stretch it to the max. All these archaic laws should be challenged. Most importantly we need lawyers to sensitize people, make them know their rights and make our society litigious.

[1/17] 'New Frame' press statement:

PR operation to mask repression in eSwatini
[2/17] Magnificent Mndebele and Cebelihle Mbuyisa, the two 'New Frame' journalists who were assaulted and tortured in the Sigodvweni police station in eSwatini on Sunday 4 July, are in Johannesburg.
[3/17] After a full debriefing, it is clear that the torture to which they were subjected was worse than we initially understood when only limited communication was possible via the quick use of a borrowed phone while the two were in hiding.

.@NewFrame_News warns South African media “to keep a critical and principled distance from @VumaReputation and any other PR firm working in the interests of violently repressive dictatorships.”
“We [@NewFrame_News] note that there is an organised effort to deny the plain fact that our journalists were tortured in the Sigodvweni police station and to circulate an entirely and demonstrable false account of events.”
“New Frame has also been contacted by @VumaReputation. This PR firm represents the interests of the #eSwatini state. It has also contacted journalists in other media orgs with the aim of bending the narrative towards the interests of a highly repressive police…”

To get a proper full picture of #KingMswati’s family’s opulence, business dealings, scandals spend some time on the @RoyalLeeches Facebook page. Keep scrolling. Disgusting stuff.…
For example, in 2018 for #KingMswati’s birthday @MTNza subsidiary @MTNSwaziland presented him with a R1 million cheque as a birthday present, @PanMacmillanSA which supplies many schools in #eSwatini with book gave him R394K.

The information is out there. Dig! 👏🏾
If you see on the @RoyalLeeches page. A lot of the watches are from Jacob & Co. Why? @amaBhungane investigated a few years ago.…

#KingMswati’s business dealings are hidden in plain sight, they just need to be connected to present the full picture.

This is a great photograph.
Basically the lobbying from these #Basotho chiefs kept #Lesotho, #eSwatini, and #Botswana out of the Union of South Africa and allowed for their contemporary #independence. (Names of chiefs in next tweets from Morija below the pic)
It should also be noted that the fact that these three territories were NOT incorporated in 1909 made it *much* harder for the apartheid regime to implement full apartheid via its Homelands/Bantustan plans. These plans *always* had Botswana/Swai/Lesotho playing a key role...
...with South Africa assuming that leaders in the three countries would simply accept their role as minor ethnic states in South Africa's orbit. With the support of the international community, all three resisted this (to differing degrees, of course).

My current #Working #Research #Topic: "A Review of the #CommonMonetaryArea of #SouthernAfrica: Are Client Countries Better-off De-Linking from the #Anchor #Economy?". I'm using #OptimumCurrencyArea #OCA #Theory to analyse the #CMA arrangement. Draft will be ready January end..!
The #CommonMonetaryArea of #SouthernAfrica or #CMA could seem to some (mostly the technically inclined) to be a no-brainer & a clear natural #OptimumCurrencyArea given the historical links between the #anchor #SouthAfrica & the #clients (#Lesotho #Eswatini & #Namibia)...
Be that as it may, 2020 marks 46 years since the #RandMonetaryArea - #RMA agreement and 34 years since the RMA was revised to establish the #CommonMonetaryArea - #CMA between #SouthAfrica, #Lesotho, Swaziland (now, #Eswatini) and #Namibia...
