I came home yesterday from the #EvolvingFaith19 conference to find out that while I was gone, a teacher at my kids' school taught them the tomahawk chop and they all performed it together on Friday morning.

Let's talk about why seemingly small things are big factors in hate.
Next week, the holiday formerly known as Columbus Day is coming. Then Halloween w/ the Pocahottie and war bonnet costumes. Then Thanksgiving, and well, you know what that means.

Native people carry with us the exhaustion of hoping that everyday Americans will choose to see us.
We can see these things happening and say, "it's not a big deal, they are just kids," BUT that's exactly the point.

When did you start to believe the things you now believe about us? When did ideas embedded in colonization and hate start?

In childhood.
In school.
At church.
