#FraudWatch day 416

#BABYcharts is resurrecting a #DumDum classic, so I’m bringing back a classic of my own. 🥂

#FraudWatch day 417

#BABYcharts doing his best to suck up to Larry the Fossi guy today. What happened to “Q1 will be 150k minimum” #DumDums? 😢

#FraudWatch day 418

#BABYcharts with another “It’s all Elon’s fault” #DumDum classic.

Watching the #DumDums spike the ball hard on the interaction with LAX Airport and Elon was epic when they replied they found the shipment. 😂

1/ Thread with my updated view of $TSLA. With two quarters of positive GAAP net income and cash flow, the longs are out celebrating victory en masse, but it seems premature.

How well is $TSLA doing now? Feedback and comments welcome. $TSLAQ (disc: short)
2/ Executive departures have been a red flag at $TSLA for a long time, but Q4 earnings call’s shocker of CFO Deepak Ahuja leaving and being replaced by 34-year-old Zach Kirkhorn (with 2 months as VP Finance under his belt) raised these questions once more.
3/ Previous Finance departures during the two most successful quarters in $TSLA’s history?

CAO – Dave Morton
VP Worldwide Finance & Operations – Justin McAnear
Senior Manager, Finance & Operations EMEA – Alex Buhr

1/ So @TeslaCharts finally posted his lengthy plea today, subtly imploring journalists to find the VINs that he can't. goo.gl/VnoMfc

In this thread I will not only explain where his data and conclusions are wrong, but also explain the obvious psychology at play.
2/ While it's impressive to pen 30 pages filled with Wikipedia entries and charts and then (innocently) tag @danahull he ultimately admits he doesn't even know what he's looking at and he demonstrates that his own data contradicts his source. $TSLA #ExplainTheVINs
3/ First his data.

His data is a derivative of the real data. His source is IHS Markit. The real source is NMVTIS. Yet, his data doesn't even match IHS Markit.

He tells us IHS Markit estimates 80,337 Model 3s registered through Oct.

Notice any issues here? $TSLA $TSLAQ

2/ Every vehicle produced has its own unique vehicle identification number. VINs can tell you a lot about a car, including the manufacturer, vehicle attributes, model year, and so on. Read more here:

3/ Here’s an example of a $TSLA Model 3 VIN. I’ve partially decoded some of what the VIN means (the important parts).

1/ “Tesla sold an epic 22,250 Model 3s in September in the U.S. The Model 3 now stands alone as one atop the sales chart... The YTD tally so far stands at 78,132. An untouchable figure.” @InsideEVs

"8,048 Model 3 vehicles were in transit to customers at the end of Q3" $TSLA
2/ “For our second data set, we scoured the internet for VINs posted by people on social media—Reddit, Tesla Motors Club and other websites frequented by Tesla customers and fans.” @TSRandall
