When this occurs, Fiona will receive a tremendous injection of 500 mb energy, causing her pressure to drop and her wind field to expand. The result will be a storm unlike Nova Scotia, or all of Canada for that matter, has ever seen.
The all time historical low pressure record anywhere in Canada is 940.2 mb, and that was from a winter storm in Newfoundland back in January of 1977.

👀 #Fiona a su paso por el Bosque de Piñones y la Laguna La Torrecilla. El Bosque de Piñones es el bosque de mangle más extenso de Puerto Rico y es parte del estuario de la Bahía de San Juan. Veamos la importancia de los manglares ante las emergencias climáticas. HILO 🧵 👇🏽
1. Defensores. Los manglares están en las zonas costeras y actúan como una barrera protectora entre el agua y la tierra, previniendo la erosión de las costas y reduciendo el efecto de oleajes y marejadas, especialmente durante eventos climáticos extremos como el paso de #Fiona.
2. Filtros. Retienen los sedimentos, filtran las aguas que abastecen los mantos freáticos y retienen desechos y sustancias tóxicas que se dirigen hacia el mar.

Los impactos previstos para Puerto Rico hoy incluyen inundaciones, deslizamientos de tierra y vientos huracanados que podrían provocar interrupciones de servicio durante el fin de semana. Por favor, toma medidas de preparación para las interrupciones de servicio y su seguridad.
LUMA activó su Plan de Respuesta a Emergencias y estamos restableciendo el servicio activamente en las zonas afectadas.
