Who is Niclas #Füllkrug?

A thread 🧵 Image
Contrary to popular belief, Füllkrug hasn't emerged from thin air. His 19 goals and eight assists played a crucial role in Werder's promotion back to the Bundesliga last season. 👇
He also kept hometown club Hannover afloat with a career-best single-campaign haul of 14 Bundesliga goals in 2017/18, having previously gained some invaluable experience in Germany's second tier with Nuremberg and Greuther Fürth (a combined 24 goals in 85 games).

Robin #Gosens on the defeat in Poland: "We were extremely disappointed to not be rewarded for what was a good game. We analysed the game and have picked out some of the key moments. In the second half, it felt like we pressured them a lot and created many chances for ourselves." Image
Gosens: "Luck just isn't on our side at the minute, and so we're heading home empty-handed. We know that we will only be able to get the country on our side if we win games, which is our what we want to do, as a big footballing country"
Gosens on the importance of the game against Colombia: "I can see how we communicate with one another each day and how we try to improve. We are working incredible hard in order to get back on track. We all hate to lose, but we can see the development in the team." Image

The result is disappointing. How do you assess the defeat in Poland?

Hansi #Flick: "In the first half, we weren't really in the game. The tempo wasn't high enough and we weren't making the deep runs we wanted to see." [DFB] #POLGER Image
Flick: "We have to defend set pieces in front of our goal better. In the second half, we found our way into the game a bit more. We had a lot of chances, and Szczesny was strong for them. Maybe we were also missing that little bit of luck."
This year, we have only won against Oman, Costa Rica and Peru. Is there anything to worry about?

Flick: "There are periods that go like this, but we will come out of it. I am absolutely convinced of the path we are on. I can't fault the team's commitment." Image

Hansi #Flick after the game on the performance of the DFB team: "In the first half we didn't have any pace and didn't create any compelling chances to score, instead keeping the ball in our own ranks." [ARD] #POLGER Image
Flick: "In the second half we created a few chances that the Polish goalkeeper threw out. We are in a process of trying things out. Clearly, without question, we need results. Of course, in the first half, the team wasn't convinced. That's where we have to start."
Flick: "You can't deny the team that they didn't try everything. We're at a stage we're trying to get out of."

Hansi #Flick on the game against Poland: "Poland are a very strong and well-drilled side. Of course we have also thought about who we want to play against. We will make some changes and Jamal will start." #POLGER Image
Flick on the mood looking ahead to EURO 2024: "We are absolutely looking forward to it. It's also clear that we imagined the last few games differently. We have conceded three goals in each of the last two games, which is not what we want."
Flick: "This has nothing to do with the system, but rather individual mistakes. We have to get the basics right, such as how to approach challenges and thinking about who is covering, but also how to keep the ball under pressure."

Germany just drew 3-3 against Ukraine. You were likely not satisfied with the result.

Hansi #Flick: "Looking back on the game, it was a relatively easy - almost too easy - start." [DFB] #GERUKR Image
Flick: "We scored pretty early on and then had the feeling that everything would go great for us and that we could rely on that. All of our mistakes were instantly punished and we just weren't good enough in defence."
Flick: "We know that we have a lot of work ahead of us still and that this is just the beginning of the process, so we need to eliminate these mistakes in our upcoming games and be rock-solid in defence."

Hansi #Flick after the game on his view of the game: "We started well, scored a quick goal and had chances to score another, but then conceded through individual mistakes once again and lost confidence." [@ZDF] #GERUKR Image
Flick: "We have to work on that and make sure we implement the things we trained in a better way"
Flick: "I feel sorry for the team because they really tried everything. Luckily she at least managed to equalize."

Rudi #Völler on the importance of the Ukraine match: "I'm looking forward to it! In particular, it being the 1000th international game is something special. An occasion like this, given the context, has a great significance." Image
Völler on Niklas #Süle not being selected: "Hansi #Flick is the best judge of that and has already explained it very well. Hansi knows him and has expressed it well. We hope that he can get back involved by performing well at BVB."
Völler on the 2001 World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine: "Back then it was in the play-offs and I've already said in many interviews that I haven't often felt as much pressure as I did in those two games. Back then, we played against an incredible team with amazing fans."

Timo #Werner on his injury: "It's going to be very, very tight for Monday. I'll try to make it for the second game. The pain has been there since the weekend, so it's hard to say. Being with the national team is always something special." Image
Werner: "Especially now, a year before the European Championship, it's about being able to play every game and being there for the preparations. I don't know how much I'll play. But when the national team calls, it's always nice to come here and be part of it."
Werner on #Flick's public announcement on #Süle: "It something special to play for the national team. The requirement is that you perform at club and international level. We know how we have to perform to be here."

Hansi #Flick on whether he sees #Kimmich as 6 and on discussions that he needs a more defensive minded player next to him: "I'm convinced that he is really good in this position. Half a year ago Jo was a world-class 6 and now we're questioning him?" [@faznet via @iMiaSanMia] Image
Flick: "You can see in Munich that he's someone who offers a lot of solutions with the ball, has an enormous passing quality, he can play passes really precisely and at the right pace. That's exactly what we need in this position."
Flick on not calling up #Süle: "My job is to make sure every player reaches their full potential. Niki could be one of the best defenders. His potential is huge. But I think he still leaves something to be desired. I want him to take a step forward in his attitude and mentality"

Juristische Standardwerke bekommen endlich neue Namen.

Wegen viel Lobbyarbeit.
Die Show muss weitergehen.
