So, data centres are back in the news again ... doh! (short thread) rte.ie/radio/radio1/c…
First well done to @SadhbhO for rebutting serious deflections and misinformation in that clip. 👏👏
@SadhbhO Next: media cycle attention span is waaaay too short to properly address issues like this. 🫤But #FWIW here was an earlier outing on @TodaywithClaire - in Oct 2021 for goodness sake...

I’m gonna support Biden/Harris.

But I think a far better way to do this is if the President and VP noms were actually chosen by the number 1 and number 2 most popular candidates in the Primaries.

Which would have meant @BernieSanders- both now and in 2016.

That would...
have made a lot of people happy. And it would have forced our leaders to deal with each other and come up with mutually agreed upon compromise positions.

That’s far more democratic than a single victor picking a running mate based on optics and branding.

I mean, these people are adults. They’re politicians. There’s no reason why Biden and Clinton should have escaped the Bernie revolutions without having to deal with us.

That’s more fair. The system should mandate that kind of collective thinking.

#ICYMI - Donald Trump was impeached 🍑this week. He’s also the first President to be impeached since the adoption of social media.

For the last issue of 🤯#FWIW this year, we take one final look at how impeachment is playing and has played online.

Impeach-boi @realDonaldTrump's re-election campaign has now spent over $31.6 million on Facebook + Google ads since the 2018 midterms. His campaign increased spending a bit last week as the impeachment vote neared. 🍑
Last week, Bloomberg was again the top spender on Facebook + Google, but it is notable that @BernieSanders ramped up his spending on both platforms, dropping over half a million dollars across a seven-day period.

Here’s how much each candidate spent online last week:

#ICYMI - Twitter finally announced it’s political ad policy, Google took away campaigns’ ability to reach voters, + Facebook is considering major changes as well. 🗑️🔥 Here's a look at what went down with the different platforms in #FWIW:

@realDonaldTrump's 2020 campaign has spent over $28 million on Facebook + Google ads since the midterms. His spend increased significantly last week, ramping up with fundraising + email acquisition ads advocating for @RepAdamSchiff to resign.

What is this “Bull-schiff” swag?
@PeteButtigieg is polling high in Iowa + New Hampshire. But was hammered for using an African stock 📸 and an old IG post at Berlin’s Holocaust memorial.

@ewarren continued running dozens of ads for her… plans. 📚 Her team has been pretty consistent with $$$ behind every plan:

In my mental health experience (in no way am i speaking for everyone), when I take the risk to say how fucking exhausting it is to not believe my brain when it tells me I’m

disgusting
pathetic
unfuckable
untalented
worthless
etc…

I *am nowhere near* fishing for compliments.
For me, it’s been helpful just to have people say things like

“I believe you.”
“You’re not alone.”
“Your brain is lying.”
etc...
But it is the *fucking worst* to hear things like

“But you’re wonderful and beautiful and amazing!”

Because then my brain is perfectly positioned to say

“They’re just saying that, mollifying you, that’s how much of a zero you are."
