In the past 15 years or so I have asked several Bollywood stars in interviews: why do you endorse #fairness products? Funny thing: most are unwilling to admit that their fairness brands are fairness brands. I kid you not. It has been quite surreal. (Contd)

By dropping "Fair" from #FairandLovely's name, @Unilever is continuing a pretence most Bollywood ambassadors of such brands have kept up for long. The name change is either pre-emptive or a bid to board the #BlackLivesMatter bandwagon. Shame. (Contd)
