To all those deeply upset at Deep Sidhu's comments, here's a little lesson in mass movements.
Mass movements involve all kinds of people. The movement against Emergency involved people from all political hues, including RSS. Does that mean we disown and reject that mov't? (1/n)

Similarly, a massive movement emerging out of Punjab will have a few Khalistani supporters and Bhindranwale sympathisers as well. So what? How can that be grounds to override and reject a movement???

A lot of people following the movement do not understand Punjabi, otherwise the amazingly progressive and radical ideological foundations guiding this movement would have left you stunned.

I am quite surprised to see some of the Canadian MPs tweeting about the #FarmersProtest .. and have no idea about APMC, or what they farmers are actually facing or what many agricultural experts have said about the reforms. Their tweets are pandering to the usual suspects.
And not all of them seem to be from the far left groups (the ones don’t seem to condemn Khalistanis and keep talking about that referendum).. some other voices have tweeted too. The extremists who refuse to condemn Khalistanis are pressuring it would seem. This is a scary trend.
And Canada ke baad a few Brits have too. These tweets just seem like uninformed WhatsApp forwards written to further a ‘certain narrative’. There is a weird pattern emerging

1) MSP is one of the things farmers are protesting for, now let me explain why MSP not mentioned in the act is an issue.
Since its not mentioned its not legal so there is nothing thats stopping them from stopping MSP, farmers won’t be able engage in legal battles.

2) Right now in mandi system when an auction is held its the seller’s market farmers decides the price, the more buyers the bigger price farmers get.
But with this bill buyers don’t have to go to mandi, they can purchase it directly this will become a buyers market..

एमएसपी की कोई गारंटी हुआ करती थी. सच्चाई यह है के देश के किसी भी राज्य का कोई भी कृषि उत्पन्न बाजार समिति कानून किसी व्यापारी को एमएसपी से नीचे माल खरीदने के आरोप में कोई सजा नहीं देता है और ना ही किसानों को ऐसी कोई गारंटी पहले उपलब्ध थी. #APMCAct
केंद्र की सरकार एमएसपी पर अपनी एजेंसी के मार्फत कृषि उपज की खरीदी करती रही है. केन्द्र सरकार पहले ही जाहिर कर चुकी है कि उसकी खरीदी पहले की ही तरह शुरू रहनेवाली है.
