1] Haven't said much about the proposed #31JulyDemo.

I'm still collecting my thoughts on the same.

My reservation is, there has to be an endgame.

A one day demo can simply become an inconsequential walkabout.

There has to be a clear plan before, during & after #July31stDemo
2] The reaction of the establishment to #July31stDemo is as predictable as next year being 2021

Soon, the organizers will be hunted & arrested

Soon they will make the Harare CBD a no go area

Infact, they have already banned the MDC-T EOC which was to be held on same date
3] Even in the unlikely event that the demo legally proceeds, the clampdown on the citizens will be harsh & brutal.

Even if that doesn't happen, what should happen, say on #August1st, for the demo to be labeled a success?

These are the critical pre-demo issues to be addressed.

Two days ago, I was in an interview in which I surprised the interviewers by saying that Kenyans don't have the same political consciousness as Africans in the other settler ex-colonies of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Thread.
For instance, South African students campaigned for #feesmustfall and #rhodesmustfall. In SA, students said "our parents fought against apartheid because they wanted us to go to school. So now we want to go to school, whether we have money or not."
Here? Students are ask about skills because that's what employers want. Or ask for leadership. They don't question why they must get into debt to learn. They instead ask for effecient disbursement and merciful repayment terms. Students don't know what is in their own interests.

PP: Let me express a word of gratitude to the Student Chapter of the Black Lawyers Association here at UNISA for putting issues affecting women high up on the agenda when there are many other issues of a legal nature that could have been discussed.
PP: I wish to thank this Student Chapter of the Black Lawyers Association for having deemed me a worthy participant in such a pertinent dialogue.
