Hey followers - there's over 3000 of you but we don't know each other very well.

For years now I've been sharing issues ranging from #disabilityrights, being #autistic in an #ableist society, to #vaccines, #MMIW, #alttext, #Dyslexia, #dyspraxic, #Epilepsy, #racism, #PTSD,
#depression, #domesticabuse being the cores of what I share and lands in your timelines.

I've recently shared with you all that I'm in a process of reclamation - my culture, my identity, my gender, my sexual preferences - all of it.

So now you know my skin is white passing
but I am also part #Aboriginal and that matters deeply to me and I won't be erased anymore.

I am #pansexual. I don't need you to be of any particular gender to be attracted to you.

I am a #nonbinary #femme. But I also lean heavy in masc traits sometimes too.

I am #disabled

While I’m on the subject of strangers being weird. Here’s a #thread on a #homophobic #microaggression I experienced, also from this @HiltonHotels hotel I’m in. It includes some thoughts on behavior for #customerservice folks.
So I am in Houston where one of my partners lives. My partner is a white non-binary femme & we had spent the day together before I checked into the hotel yesterday. The person checking us in said “Are you two together?” and I said yes.
The front desk person began checking me in and then said “Do you want a double suite?” I didn’t understand & asked them to repeat. The person said “You’re registered for a king bed, do you want a double suite instead? With two beds?”

J’aimerai vous proposer un nouveau #Thread sur un sujet plus personnel et non technique. Mon expérience en tant que #femme scientifique et ingénieure.
@MarleneSchiappa @ellesbougent

Introducing my #the100dayproject inspired by @QMUNITY and my fellow #ADE @Sharon_Drummond. 100 days, 100 GIFs, 100 queer terms to educate and connect our community and allies. All GIFs created with #AppleKeynote and will be compiled on @GIPHY : giphy.com/channel/joepau… @AppleEDU
Day 1: QUEER - widely used among the community to refer to the spectrum of non-heterosexual +/ non-cisgender ppl as a shorthand. Important - this is RECLAIMED language that was/is still used as a hate term. #pride #education @QMUNITY @sogiUBC Follow along ———> #100daysofQueer
DAY 2: HETERONORMATIVE - social roles & structures that reinforce idea that heterosexuality is the presumed norm and is superior to other sexual orientations. #pride #education #sogi #humanrights @QMUNITY @sogiUBC @HRC

Follow along —-> #100daysofQueer created on #AppleKeynote

Good morning Twitter friends. I’m still in bed sick, but possibly on the mend at last after 4 days. Last night @tropigalia & @laura_luna asked me to do a #thread on the devaluing & misrecognition of #femme relationships so here we go.
First, if you don’t know what femme is, read this, this thread will still be here: bustle.com/articles/16608…
So to be clear, femme is a queer gender expression not tied to sex or gender identity. Femme is also not exclusively about appearance, but this thread will emphasize appearance bc I’m going to talk about the way femme relationships are read, thus based on visual cues.

I don’t have all the words for it yet, but if you don’t have Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha (@brownstargirl)’s new book Care Work, you need to go buy it right now. Now. Especially if you are disabled or a person of color or a femme or all of the above. It is...exceptional.
It reminds me of the intensely political, personal, fierce, healing writing of 80s WOC feminists like Audre Lorde & Gloria Anzaldúa. This book is intellectually & emotionally powerful. I’m buying copies for friends. I’m so blown away, so moved—truly a game changing collection.

to say that all bisexual women regardless of their lived realities can have access to the terms “butch” and “fem” (or more likely “femme”) as if they’re identity labels & nothing more is always going to be ahistorical and weird
I’m not sure why non-lesbians are so obsessed with these terms lol especially since the sexual / social / romantic role system that they used to comprise no longer exists and hasn’t since the 1970s
butch/fem is treated today like terminology independent of community that describes your individual presentation precisely BECAUSE this system no longer exists in the way that it used to. there’s nothing necessarily innately bad about that but it is true.

For #TransDayofRemembrance I want to tell you a story.

Last Nov/Dec, I was homeless. @realDonaldTrump had just been elected. I was living in my car. I was cold. I was hungry. The pain from my chronic lower back issues was horribly bad, every moment of every day (1/x)
Sleeping in my car was making it worse. I could barely stand, let alone go grocery shopping or walk longer than about 10 min, w/o being totally wiped out for the next day or 2. I was receiving no medical treatment for being #trans, for my #AtrialFibrillation or my back pain (2/x)
I was unemployed, had no degree, didn't pass, and I was severely depressed.

Only a few ppl know this, but I think it's time to talk about it. I almost died last December. I didn't have much $, but I was doing research on the best methods to kill myself that'd be effective (3/x)
