🎉This will be the 10th year in a row that I’ve celebrated #Festivus with you 🎉By celebrated I mean have a little fun at the expense of Washington. If we don’t laugh we might cry.
You’ve can probably tell from last week - I’ve got a LOT OF PROBLEMS with Washington, politics, and the one-party system that wants to keep us in endless wars and bankrupt us.
In bemoaning how things are getting worse everyday, we often tend to forget that the state of the world is becoming monotonically more observable. 1/
It may not be so much that there is monotonically increasing suffering in this world, but that it is monotonically more observable--we can be aware of it, if we choose to. 2/
Wars become forever stalemates because both parties have much better observability into the state of the adversary. As my son says, Normandy-like surprise attacks are much harder in this era of satellite/cell signal observability (Ukraine being a textbook case in point..) 3/

In the last 18 months, Congress and the White House have tried to spend nearly ten TRILLION dollars we don’t have. That’s the mother of all grievances right there.
I’m baaaaaack and I’ve been checking some of your grievances out on Twitter - some of you are seriously on the naughty list this year. #Festivus
After Fauci, next on my naughty list is our President. President Biden is now spreading his own version of holiday cheer by telling us all we are going to die.
That’s an interesting tactic, but thankfully I don’t think the President remembers he said it.

And by you people, I mostly mean the petty tyrants who run your local, state and federal governments. 2021 was a banner year for being a petty tyrant, with them all literally tripping over each other for the dumbest covid lockdown or mandate idea.

I've been studying Alberta political culture & public opinion for over a decade. I've learned that a lot of Albertans feel personally & collectively "left behind" by their governments, and by the pace of economic & social change that is challenging the "Alberta way of life." +
Acknowledegment is important. The continual airing of grievances by politicians who claim to be "standing up for Albertans" may feel good at the time. +
So, too, might spending billions of dollars on failed pipeline bets, war rooms, and public inquiries to identify and target "the bad guys."+

Now that we've taken back all 3 branches, even if narrowly, it's actually funny to listen to Trump rant against Brian Kemp ("130 lbs" he notes) and also whine about how Oprah doesn't like him anymore.
Trump is basically just airing grievances like it's #Festivus. And you know what, by the Orthodox Russian church calendar, today is indeed Festivus. 😂😂😂

Take Congress...PLEASE! They have really outdone themselves this year with the massive special interest giveaway disguised as a relief bill. It is a disgrace in both the level of spending and the process they used to try to sneak it through. But this week’s pork-a-thon isn’t new.
My #Festivus Waste Report is now an unfortunate Holiday tradition, though a shameful one, if most legislators had any shame. Why? This one report details $54 BILLION in wasted spending.
Yesterday, I published my #Festivus waste report, which highlighted $54 billion in truly outlandish waste in government.
Remember this the next time they tell you there’s “nothing to cut.”
