Tomorrow @realDonaldTrump will announce his nominee for #SCOTUS.

He should absolutely move a name forward.

And the Senate should absolutely move forward with a floor vote.

The Constitution, our history and norms support these actions. Full stop. #FillTheSeat

--A THREAD--
.@realDonaldTrump's nominee for #SCOTUSl should receive a floor vote. This is the norm for a Senate who is of the same party as the President. There have been 29 Supreme Court vacancies during election years or lame-duck terms and the President has always made a nomination.
In 19 of those 29 cases the President's party has held the Senate. 17 of those nominees were confirmed, 9 before the election and 8 after. The last time a divided government confirmed the nominee was 1888, with President Grover Cleveland. #FillTheSeat

The Kavanaugh hearing was a clarifying moment for countless conservatives because it revealed the depths to which the other side will sink in order to get power.

I don’t think most conservatives need a reminder, but in case you‘ve forgotten...

We saw how eager the media, Dems, and others were to push baseless claims to destroy someone without evidence.

They’ll make a monster out of you for clicks. That includes @thedailybeast, @NBCNews, @Newsweek, @KamalaHarris, among countless others. ImageImageImageImage
They’ll take unsubstantiated claims and level accusations against you as if they were already true. Elected officials, members of the media, thought leaders, and beyond would attack you from all sides.

Trump said he wants to make the announcement once funeral services for Ginsburg, who died Friday at age 87, are over. He also said he wants the Senate to hold a confirmation vote for the nominee before the Nov. 3 election.
The president said there are “actually five I’m looking at — it’s down to five,” he said about his potential picks. He declined to name them, though he said one of them is 38 years old, which he said could mean the person could be a Supreme Court justice for 50 years.

The Justice was in and out of hospital for months. The idea that she was “here” on recent cases is a farce and there was literally no calls for her to hang up the robe to let the process work. She hung in there hoping for a favorable election outcome this November. It’s indeed
her right to have done this, but it’s the responsibility of news media to hold government accountable; all members of all branches of government. This did not happen. Instead we got puff pieces as to how great her mind is.
I am not sure how RBG’s alleged “last wish” has any bearing on the #FillTheSeat debate. It’s not her seat and she could have left a few years back when Obama was around.
