NEW from @ExtremeArturo - In Houston where the #FinalFour will take place next week on March 31-April 3, the mayor’s office has taken it a step beyond displacing the unhoused and has ordered police to target people feeding those in need.

Efforts by cities across the U.S. to “clean up” before major sporting events aren’t new, but when those efforts involve forcing the unhoused away from certain areas, they often employ the use of police to criminalize support services for homeless people. unicornriot.ninja/2023/ahead-of-…
After opening a facility to move unhoused people away from downtown, old city ordinances were used to ticket Food Not Bombs Houston food-sharing volunteers doing what they’ve done for decades: feeding people at the Houston Public Library every night. unicornriot.ninja/2023/ahead-of-…

✈️ NOLA this evening. The #FinalFour is a great convention, but can be tough for a young coach that’s trying to meet new people. 10 years ago that was me and it was rough. Here are some suggestions from my experience, I hope it helps. (A thread)
Don’t be a polo watcher. It’s enough people looking at polo’s to decide if they want to speak or not. Don’t limit who you connect with based on level.
Attend the coaching clinics. They are valuable a lot of good coaches and it’s a good way to meet people by talking about what you learned at the clinic.

One matchup saw a shocking upset with a No. 1 seed going home while the other No. 1 seed in action won handily to make it to the #FinalFour and join Houston and Baylor.

Guard Johnny Juzang scored 28 points while fighting off an ankle injury – to help carry upstart UCLA past No. 1 seed Michigan 51-49.

One team has been to the #FinalFour an astounding 13 consecutive times and the other has never been at all!

Here are Monday's results from the 2021 NCAA women's basketball Tournament #Elite8:
Freshman phenom Paige Bueckers scored a game-high 28 points as top-seeded UConn escaped a bruising battle with defending champion Baylor with a 69-67 win.

"If there was a travesty, it was that Baylor and UConn were playing now, in the Elite Eight. If anyone got robbed, it was women’s basketball. This wasn’t an Elite Eight game," writes @nrarmour. bit.ly/2PhQFHA

#ThrowbackThursday Thread: Minneapolis hosted the #FinalFour back in 1992 as well. While there wasn't a blockbuster concert like @katyperry there was this act...and some choice dance moves.
Indiana hoops fans brought a strong sartorial game, with themes of Where's Waldo and also a lotta love for Minneapolis-based @zubaz.
Clearly stonewashed jeans were all the rage in Ann Arbor at the time. While the team may have left it all on the floor, it appears these fans left no drinks on the table.

HERE IT IS!! A thread on Auburn, who we face in the #FinalFour on Saturday, April 6 at 6:09 p.m. EST.
Auburn has 2 *active* players who average double digit ppg: Bryce Brown (senior guard, 6’3” 198 lbs) w/ 15.8 ppg and Jared Harper (junior guard, 5’11” 175 lbs) w/ 15.2 ppg. They lost Chuma Okeke (sophomore forward, 12 ppg) to a torn ACL vs UNC. He was their highest scoring big.
Bryce Brown averages 2.1 reb, 1.9 ast, and 1.1 stl. He shoots at 43.3% from the field and 40.7% from 3. He scored 24 vs Kentucky and 25 vs Kansas. Ty should be able to get in his head and disrupt his passes, as he also averages 1.7 TO.
