Here's the story. More than 300g of rare meteoritic material has been recovered from the spectacular #fireball seen over the UK on 28 Feb!

Huge congrats to the UK Fireball Alliance, @NHM_Meteorites, @SCAMP_Meteors, @UKMeteorNetwork & many others!

The meteorite fragments that have been recovered are of a particularly rare kind known as carbonaceous chondrites. These objects predate the Earth!

Even the meteors try to avoid our planet in 2020...
Note that the apparent "curve" does not mean it travelled on a curved trajectory. That "curve" in reality is due to the curved earth surface below the fireball!
