#ALifeOfSacrifice Since Independence, Zimbabwean parents have worked hard to invest in the education of their children. Some opened accounts with the likes of Beverly Building Society for years only to see value wiped away in a matter of days by Zanu's collapse of the economy
#ALifeOfSacrifice Those who managed to make it & graduate, could not find any jobs because ZanuPF's ruinous policies destroyed the economy. Families were forced to sacrifice quality family time & send their children off overseas. But first they had to sacrifice to find airfares
#ALifeOfSacrifice Those who made it to the diaspora are still sacrificing to bring family over or send money home to help those left behind at the mercy of a predatory elite that is looting the country dry at Olympic proportions. Cynically, diaspora is not allowed to vote

ZanuPF & the government's obsession with NGOs & their insistence on demanding work plans is yet an example of the systematic siege mentality within their ranks. Anyone who demands accountability is an enemy of the state, serves communities is treated with suspicion. Fear abounds.
Government that rules with an iron fist because it is afraid of it's own shadows. It is a sick situation with regime defenders openly & shamelessly back repression because they make a living off the backs of the people's misery #FixTheFoundation
The same regime that lives off foreign aid is petty & capricious enough to hijack aid handover ceremonies for help sourced by NGOs and individual Zimbabweans. Not content to deprive Zimbabweans of a living, they go on to create "support" schemes to further enrich themselves

#FixTheFoundation The world is fascinated by what is happening in the US because it is a superpower & because it regularly positions itself asi "leader of the free world". It is a test moment for American democracy. The democrats are moving to impeach Donald Trump for sedition
This is not about politics as some very conservative Republicans, like Liz Cheney, have indicated they will vote to impeach. The point being made is you cannot upend the constitutional order & hope to get away with it. There are dangers for the country & principles must stand
In Zimbabwe, when the ruling party was embroiled in a vicious factional fight, 9 out of 10 provinces voted against their then VP. After the coup, the same 9 provinces switched allegiances. Zero principle, adherence to the constitution. Worse, opposition leaders defended the coup

@SADC_News The Zimbabwe regime & its fervent apologists moan about sanctions. At the same time, it arrests journalists for working. Whether it is about a wedding, as did Choto & Chavunduka or corruption of Olympic proportions as did Chin'ono, the regime remains consistently evil.
The reaction is always the same, "strike fear in to the hearts of our enemy" with our "degrees in violence". Is there no adult in the ZanuPF room where these decisions are made? Nehanda was not afraid. Ian Smith failed to cow ordinary peasants. Why do you think you will succeed?
The most ridiculous are those gleefully riding on the back of the Tiger. Have you forgotten what you did to each other from G40 to Gamatox to Lacoste to coup? How do you face your children after your smug retorts & lies? #FixTheFoundation

Martin Luther King: "Not only do we have a right to be free, we have a duty to be free. So when you sit down on a bus, when you sit down in the front, or you side down by a white person, you are sitting down because you have a duty to sit down not merely because you have a right"
Similarly, Zimbabwe, you have a duty to hold political parties to account. You have the right to support them but a duty to question conduct that is unbecoming. You have the right to elect a government, but a duty to demand excellent performance. Insist on it. #FixTheFoundation
You have the right to elect a party or representative of a choice, but a duty to demand they execute their duties, once elected. You deserve a decent life and have a duty to vote in parties that will work to that end. You have a right to favourites but a duty to unbiased thinking

The real pandemic in Zimbabwe is toxic politics of power struggles whose only result is to delay societal progress since independence. In their lust for retaining power, toxic politicians delay meritorious appointments to office, in the process holding up economic development.
Thus Mugabe kept the Malungas, Zvogbos & Ushewokunzes from ascending, played games with VPs with never an eye on the economy. The masses were entertained by political gossip instead of being alert to the rogue driving leading us to the abyss. Our country started to slowly decay
Power struggles are contagious, it seems. Opposition parties went through split after split, delaying the politics of change for the better. MPs & councillors seduced by luxury cars & overseas per diems focused not on electoral reform but demanding allowances & selling of stands

@263Chat @kubatana @ercafrica @MagambaNetwork The saying goes, "there's no shortcut to any place worth going". Leaders who take unconstitutional shortcuts to power bring grief on their own house, with enemies they could do without. Some ride in armed motorcades, never at peace
Others constantly look over their shoulders, never at peace either. There's wisdom in following process. There are no announcements in democracy. That would be a continuation of the past. There's purity in truth, the straight & narrow road is longer but has more value & duration
The role of supporter is not only to cheer, certainly not without reservation. It is also to question, hold to account, insist on consistency lest the supporter drown, too, swept away by hubris. The life of man is three score & ten, life of a nation, forever. At 40, we are young

Sad how different political parties trade barbs at each other depending on which of them has abused women. Inconsistent, hypocritical & partisan based values. This is why many are willing to flout constitutions when they lust for power. Values are incidental rather than timeless.
Then there's this tendency to attack one gender because a member of their gender has been abused. Human rights abuses are what they are. They do not have to be condemned any more or less because one is a mother, sister or female minister. Selective rage turns to cyber bullying.
On one day, you ask SADC to stay out of our politics because you are excited a military coup might bring you in to government as a partner & on the next you lament SADC's lack of response because same military regime you supported has shown its real face for the umpteenth time.

A week in to lockdown, some Harare policemen were filmed enthusiastically beating a woman for being outdoors. A couple of weeks after that, we saw photographs of more women, this time in Bulawayo, brutalised by police. Now we have 3 MDC female officials who have been tortured.
The beatings are crude, cruel and a weapon of fear & intimidation. The viciousness with which members of police force gleefully undertake these actions is puzzling. Do they not have mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers & children too? The sad thing about this whole thing though...
Is we have seen this before. There's not an area in Zimbabwe where there has been no police brutality in one form or another, across the country. The violence is the same, it is only the victims' names that change. Zimbabweans fall in to the trap of discussing each new case....

Newsday reports that "The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Con-ference says Zimbabwe has lost an opportunity in the past 40 years to redefine its his-tory, foster national healing & to end corruption, international isolation & to save the collapse of the country’s infrastructure." Why?
At Independence, we had a highly educated cabinet that compared favorably, man for man, with the best in the world. Yet, the majority of them did not have the courage of their liberation convictions to stand up to Ghukurahundi atrocities. Core values matter.
The rest of the country, apart from the victims and a few people, hardly stirred either. You cannot look away when the authorities repress your fellow citizens. When Zanu advertised car accidents & coffins on national television in election campaigning & as a warning against...

How prepared is our government for emergencies? How much does it invest in Research and Development versus rigging elections, hiring private jets, buying tear gas and water cannons? How many government officials think like Oppah Muchinguri? Where is our brains trust? Image
We knew about cyclones but our Minister of Defense says they saw the warnings but did not take them seriously. Her very public reaction to COVID 19 was scandalous. Our President announced a shutdown and had a rally the next day. We know about drought but we lack in food reserves Image
If you don't trust coronavirus, why do you trust ZanuPF? We know from experience after experience what a complete mess they are. What are you going to do to #FixTheFoundation and #RehabilitateZimbabwe In the midst of a global health crisis, our VP goes to a hospital in China

Orpah Muchinguri who said they knew about Cyclone Idai warnings but did not take them seriously, now says God is punishing the US with Coronavirus for sanctions. Who would vote for such people? A government that does not understand science & spouts nonsense!
Can you trust such a government with climate change & water resilience remedies when they ascribe events to biblical punishment? How will they provide solutions? And who are the applauding members of the audience? What manner of self abuse is this? Y
You are part of the problem when you gleefully applaud nonsensical behaviour by politicians to the detriment of our country. When do we stop to think about the damage ZanuPF has wrought on the country instead of laughing at their non stop gaffes? You are laughing at yourselves.

We can spend time debating one symptom of ZanuPF misrule after another. We need to stop wallowing in our misery and focus our energies on one goal: elect a government that is not motivated by power but a development agenda for Zimbabwe and the continent.
APA is that political party. Potential candidates who want to stand with us must understand & accept that our agenda is a leadership based on core values & competence, in that particular order. If you're willing to be selfless & put your country first, you should be talking to us
We refuse to abuse youth in political games & power struggles. Our youth must get to the point where they have enough self respect to reject being pawns. Your future is that important. Temporary excitement at rallies or in streets versus a brutal regime will feed you for an hour

It is instructive how former democracy activists join ZanuPF in persecution of the masses and current democracy activists recruit former brutal ZanuPF enforcers of repression in to their ranks. We will not change Zimbabwe when everyone wants a shortcut to power. #thinkingvote
This lack of principle and backbone is probably Zimbabwe's single biggest source of our crisis. Despite a highly educated cabinet, none stood up to Ghukurahundi, despite the number of lawyers in politics today, they do not stand up to being yoked with enforcers today. T
The values crisis will be our undoing. People caring more for ministerial portfolios & Land Crusisers than the welfare of our people & country plus a willing and compliant electorate. Then we wonder why we are where are. #FixTheFoundation

@ercafrica The lesson is unconstitutional transfer of power puts us on the slippery slope to anarchy. Admittedly, we have a de facto government. How do we step back to the right track instead of descending further? We must #FixTheFoundation What does this mean?
1. Parties in parliament must do their work on political & electoral reform.
2. Government must embark on a national cohesion project based on the rule of law & common values
3. Citizens must make holding leaders to account a natural & daily habit based on constitutional values
At the same time, government must pursue sound economic policy. This means
1. Policy certainty for all, including investors
2. Genuine crackdown on corruption, especially illicit financial outflows
3. Equitable share of national wealth to promote inclusion. Develop all regions

Are you travelling home this Christmas? What are you going to tell friends & family about your thoughts on the crisis in the country? It will be a dialogue of course. You may have to discard your beliefs or dispel some of their myths. Whatever the case, discuss #thinkingvote
Please ask whether they are ready to suspend their allegiances long enough to have an open & honest conversation about why we are where we are, who is responsible & what they think we should do to change direction. You might want to discuss voting as a duty for nation building
You might want to define what nation building, prosperity might look like and who best can bring that about. You may have to tell a lot of hard truths. We have no choice but to #RehabilitateZimbabwe & that will not be possible if we don't #FixTheFoundation Simple! It might work!

When we say the regime is brutal, appeasers come on to our timeline to deflect. Brutality has no party colour, they do it to others and among themselves as we have seen since independence. Tragically, other appeasers yearn for a G40 return. All fighting to be part of the system
We refuse to learn, wilfully ignoring history. APA refuses to compromise on its core values. If Zimabweans want sustainable change & prosperity, they must stop looking away, stop aiding & abetting unconstitutional behaviour within parties & national government. #FixTheFoundation
We have a duty to humanity, to fellow citizens, country & posterity. We can end this cycle of poverty & violence. Examine every party's conduct in all aspects of democracy & the future you want and then work to #RehabilitateZimbabwe We don't have a choice.

A country is best run and managed with science, reason, planning and implementation.
@xandatoto EU says, “Stadium events and gala dinners and prayer sessions are not the basis of the EU policy.” Zimbabwe must engage on the basis of reforms, make a coherent argument on why sanctions must be lifted instead of the ridicule we are exposing our people to. #FixTheFoundation
@xandatoto 1. Uphold right to protest without citizens turning to court all the time
2. Do not shoot citizens. Follow protocol during protests. Hold rogue police to account.
3. Complete repeal of AIPPA, & align replacement with constitution
4. Complete reforms & align
5. Fight corruption

A vendor, Hilton Tafadzwa Tamangani, is arrested & assaulted by police. He has died at the hands of the authorities for trying to make an honest living in an economy destroyed by the same authorities. He will be just another statistic because our lives are cheap?
And people want to play semantics about sanctions, comparing us to American interests in elsewhere? Will you step in & take care of his family? You want to make excuses for this regime that has killed in times of plenty & times of crisis? The sheer audacity! #FixTheFoundation
Is there no self respect for what our lives are worth? Where does this thinking come from that because the powerful have their friends & unfair practices we can allow our people to be oppressed with impunity by a predatory elite? Sort out mess at home first! #RehabilitateZimbabwe

@kennethmtata Governments are elected to govern. Elections are meant to give voters options for next cycle. You don't suspend elections because the elected are failing to govern. If there's a collapse, you go back to the electorate, you don't do deal to suspend the constitution
Have you not learned the lessons from the approval of the coup given by some opposition leaders in the selfish and vain hope for power sharing? "Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar" & leave the nation to constitutionally self-correct. Anything else is more precedence for chaos.
The solution is not to allow the incompetent predatory elite another 7 years of famine when a complete break from the past can bring 7 years of plenty and more. Restore legitimacy via the constitution. #FixTheFoundation #RehabilitateZimbabwe

#MegaDeals Repeatedly lied to. Repeatedly celebrated by our "youth" and women in ZanuPF regalia and yet poverty stalks the masses. Talk to your family & friends. Drop the veil from our eyes. #FixTheFoundation with a massive #ThinkingVote and we will #RehabilitateZimbabwe for all.
The latest CSC deal is yet another example of drip feed wool over the eyes. Ask your friends & family what they think of all these lies. How many mega deals announced to date? Why is country still poor? Who is driving luxury cars? Who has dirty water, no medicine & electricity?
Headlines of mega deals but deadlines from ZESA. Trumpets of open for business but snippets of open for chaos. Shouting by ZanuPF aligned Chiefs but doubting a dissenting Chief. Begging bowl for funding but acquitting corruption cases. Anointed leaders but contaminated water.
