Another Iginla nice guy 🧵
Jarome spent the day in Chestermere on Saturday, coaching kids and meeting many still adoring #Flames fans. He had a ‘hard out’ cutoff time of 5:30 p.m. to catch a flight out. The line was massive with about an hour to go.
I was second last in line, joining late to say hello again for the first time in person in years. Daughter joined me. Event organizers made their way to the back of the line to warn everyone that Jarome had to leave at 5:30 and that there was a chance he wouldn’t get to all.
Everyone stayed. They closed the doors. Iginla signed, posed and chatted as the line plodded. I thought back to my first year on the #Flames beat when I was on the team charter and buses. The rule for reporters was never be last on the bus. Sutter would happily leave you behind.

David Pagnotta: "I’ve heard the Rangers are still an option. But if (Tarasenko) doesn’t know his own future, that suggests to me he’d be open to moving to other playoff contenders. Would the Hurricanes, Knights, Wild or #Flames be acceptable to him?"…
"Bertuzzi... is being dangled and several teams have reached out about his availability. As a result of a lack of contract talk, one source close to the situation told me they now “expect” Bertuzzi to be dealt by the deadline..."
"...Teams like the Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars are all looking to bolster their top-six and Bertuzzi would be an affordable option with his $4.75 million cap hit."

Do you ever sit and reminisce about the 2014-15 Calgary Flames? They had awful analytics and underlying numbers, but they were fun as hell. If only this year's current #Flames were even half as fun.
The team and the fans had so much fun that year. Take me back. #Flames
The city was alive then. Feels like a distant dream now. #Flames

Time for an impromptu highlight reel thread of Adam Ruzicka and Matthew Phillips from the 2020–21 Stockton Heat season, when Phillips was 22 and Ruzicka was 21.

I think there's a better than decent chance they play together with the #Flames tonight.
This was the best goal of that season for the Heat.

The @NHLFlames changed their profile picture to a rainbow #Flames logo for #CalgaryPride.

On Facebook... it went about as well as you would expect, however, the Flames have been roasting the haters. Here's some comments and responses 🔥… #yyc #nhl

This is a Conservatism fundraiser.

Proceeds will be collected by Oilers franchise owner, Daryl Katz, who will then distribute funds to “think tanks” that aim to elect politicians who will rob these very fans of social services, like transit, education, and access to abortions…
With their membership in groups like Alberta Enterprise, the Oilers Entertainment Group is fighting to delay action on mitigating the catastrophic effects climate change, and gain tax advantages for the ultra-rich.

I know people who live in Edmonton who want things like expanded transit networks, reliable healthcare, and climate action. They vote progressively. They are confused how Conservatives always seem to win elections. They are huge Oilers fans…

God, playoff hockey is so good.

Love -- love -- the respect between the goalies in the handshake.

As a Brazilian hockey and soccer fan who likes soccer jerseys and loves to see jersey concepts for hockey I couldn't help but to wonder how they would look like and since I didn't find something like that I created one for each team! Image
Disclaimers: soccer jerseys usually have a sponsor and since we don't have that in NHL I simply used the helmet sponsors (for those cool guys that don't have one like Avs and Flyers I used the one from arena naming rights)

Teams are in abbreviation order!

Ok let's go!

#SriLanka is reaping the whirlwind of #Hate first ethnically driven hate for the #Tamil people, and then religious hate for #Muslims.
Now they know painfully that Hate for a conveniently defined 'other' is destructive of everyone's prosperity, including your own.
It was #Hate for the 'other' that blinded the populace to the #Corruption of those in power who fuelled and directed the #Hatred and the #Bigotry as a smokescreen for their own #Corrupt #misgovernance.
When the #Flames of #Hatred are fanned by the #Bigots in power for their own selfish ends, and the mechanisms of institutional control are disabled by those same bigots, the flames cannot tell the intended victims from the bullies and their silent onlooker supporters.

1) Man what a bummer. I had high hopes for this movie, MOONFALL. I didn't expect some major high-budget action flick, but with the cast and director, I did expect some solid entertainment ahead of thew #Flames game tonight. It wasn't solid, and the entertainment was hit-and-miss.
2) The movie stars Halle Barry, Patrick Wilson, Michael Pena, and John Bradley (Samwell Tarley from Game of Thrones) and directed by Roland Emmerich. With these people leading the way, one would expect a good popcorn movie. So much of it came close to that but the entire thing
3) failed, thanks to some bad and weak writing in the script, and some of the direction was definitely questionable. That's unfortunate because this story idea had such incredible potential:
The moon is hollow. Not only that, it was built "billions of years ago" by aliens, who

OTD in 1959, after taking a shot from Andy Bathgate in the nose, Jacques Plante leaves the game & returns wearing a mask.

This is a (mega) thread to Plante & to the mask wearers who followed. Some great goalies/masks do not appear & some appear more than once.

Gerry Cheevers and his iconic mask. The first to have markings on it. #NHLBruins

I considered doing a thread just on Michel Dion's mask.

So one of the biggest complaints I've seen from #Flyers fans over their efforts this season, is "they get scored on a lot, right after scoring".

So let's find out if this is true...
#FlyersTalk #AnytimeAnywhere
Through 28 games in 2020-21, the #Flyers have been scored on 18 times within 5 minutes of scoring a goal.
- 12 of those goals against came within 2min of scoring
- 4 of them came within 1min of scoring
- 2 of them came within 30 seconds of scoring
#FlyersTalk #AnytimeAnywhere
How does this compare to the rest of the league?

Most goals conceded within 5 minutes of scoring:
1. #Oilers - 28
2. #Caps - 22
3. #Leafs - 20
4. #Flames - 19
5. #Flyers/#GoldenKnights - 18

and the fewest:

31. #Stars/#Ducks - 4
29. #Sharks - 6
28. #Bruins - 7
27. #Kings - 8

Atención a: Ondrej Kase

Tiene un historial de lesiones preocupante pero siempre es un jugador que destaca. Anaheim necesitará de su talento goleador para salir del pozo.
