📣 Since @NikkiHaley decided to remind everyone that @NeeraTanden's organization, @AmProg, produced a universal healthcare plan called "Medicare Extra for All", let's take a look at the plan (which was actually spearheaded by @TopherSpiro, I believe). 1/

Note: I wrote up my analysis of Medicare Extra for All (#MEFA) back in February 2018, and in May 2019 I wrote an analysis of the House bill largely based on it, #MedicareForAmerica, sponsored by @RosaDelauro & @RepSchakowsky. 2/
Full disclosure: From June 2019 - last month, I was contracted w/@AmProg to do part-time healthcare analysis. However, my analyses of both #MEFA & #MedicareForAmerica were done prior to this, and this thread is being written after my contract expired) 3/

📣 MICHIGAN: Updated/Corrected: Over 156,000 Michiganders have gained Medicaid coverage in the #COVID19 era thanks to #ACA expansion: acasignups.net/20/11/18/michi…
Here's how "Healthy Michigan" (#ACA expansion) enrollment has grown since it was launched in April 2014. It ramped up & hovered between 650K - 700K until February 2020...after which enrollment has taken off again.
That's a 23% increase since February. If the #ACA is struck down by the Trump/GOP lawsuit, *830,000 Michiganders* would be screwed.

That's one of MANY reasons why the Georgia Senate runoffs aren't just about Georgians. Donate to #FlipBothGASeats today: secure.actblue.com/donate/garunof…

THIS. Also, this will still be in the middle of a pandemic...which will likely be raging even worse than ever. It'll also be in early January, which means most early/mail-in voting will be done between...Christmas & New Year's?? Who's more/less likely to show up?
For comparison, here's what happened in the 2008 Georgia runoff election, when Republican Saxby Chambliss beat Jim Martin...but note some key differences:

politico.com/story/2008/12/…
In 2008, Chambliss came 9,000 votes short of the 50%+1 threshold, forcing a runoff vs. Martin. In the runoff, however, he crushed Martin by 16 points.

HOWEVER...
--Control of the Senate wasn't on the ballot; Dems already had 58 seats (MN wouldn't be determined for 6 months);

NEW: Two runoff elections in Georgia could decide the fate of the #ACA: acasignups.net/20/11/05/two-r…
Here's a cleaned-up version of the table I posted earlier. It includes the updates of both how many would likely lose healthcare coverage and how much federal funding would be lost in every Georgia district if the #ACA is struck down from @urbaninstitute & @amprog estimates: Image
Depending on which analysis you use, if the #ACA is struck down by the Trump/GOP lawsuit without an acceptable replacement, between 340,000 - 550,000 Georgia residents would lose healthcare coverage, and the state would lose between $2.6 - $2.8 billion per year in federal funds.

With what appears to be TWO U.S. Senate runoff elections coming up in GA on Jan. 5th (which will determine control of the Senate), I'd strongly recommend sharing this graphic widely.

Over 550,000 Georgia residents would likely lose healthcare coverage if the #ACA is struck down. Image
Actually, I'm gonna update it to also include the amount of FEDERAL FUNDING which Georgia would lose (it was $2.3 billion/year in the pre-#COVID19 era; today it'd be closer to $2.7 billion/year).

And GA hasn't even expanded Medicaid. Image
Here you go. this table has been updated with both projected coverage losses *and* federal funding losses, and also includes the updated House members in GA-05 & GA-07 starting in January: Image
