Amazon is a perfect #enshittification parable - platforms subsidize end users until they're locked in, then make life good for business customers at users' expense, until *they're* locked in, then claw back all the value they can, leaving just enough to keep the lock-in going.

In a new report for @SOMO, @margaridasilva2 describes how the end-stage enshittification of Amazon is playing out in the #EU, with Amazon repeating its US playbook.

Amazon is *very* proud of its #flywheel: first, they subsidized customers, luriing in sellers. Then they demanded lower prices, luring more buyers. With more customers, more sellers piled in. Faster the flywheel spins, creating the #EverythingStore:

The flywheel is everywhere - they even teach it in business-schools. But Amazon is not a reliable narrator. It doesn't tell the truth about the flywheel. To understand what's really going on with the flywheel, you have apply #enshittification to it.

It's worth adding to these $sivb snippets from @matt_levine and @benthompson – particularly Stratechery's "The End of Silicon Valley (Bank)", which was more nuanced than it sounds:

Okay, okay dear degens, here is a new and interesting protocol built on @arbitrum, a mixture of @StargateFinance and @UmamiFinance 👀

Sounds interesting? It is! Today we will dive into @MugenFinance $MGN 🧵 🔽
1/x What is @MugenFinance ?

Think about @UmamiFinance built on top of @StargateFinance but without hedging component (so far) 🤔

TLDR: you deposit whitelisted tokens, get $MGN, stake it and receive $WETH (vested) as a reward from strategies utilized on different chains 💵
2/x Right now they only use $GLP strategy on 🤨@arbitrum, basically, they DCA into it

I know that it does not sound too exciting, but they are going to release new strategies on Ethereum Mainnet, Optimism and Polygon. All rewards from all these chains will go to stakers 🫰

In ‘18, I found @Mashinsky & @CelsiusNetwork. I believed in the mission & bought $CEL.

My first loan was supported by a signed document 🤯. It was early days. I watched #cel do nothing for months, but I believed.

Then, Series A came around and I doubled down. Thanks to Alex for allowing me (and 1,000 others) to participate at a low valuation.

I continued believing in the mission despite the bear market.

In 2021, the network grew exponentially. Some growing pains manifested. New products got delayed. FUD all over.

BUT I continued to believe in global financial inclusion and the @CelsiusNetwork community.

I'm a $FVRR bull and I like how the premarket is reacting.

Let's digest Q3 earnings in a short 🧵👇 ImageImage

Active Buyers up 33%
Spend per Buyer up 20%
Already impressive Take rate improving by another 140bps

X : What's happening in UK?
Me : Nothing.
X : Protests?
Me : A bunch of people complaining about the influx of pigeons ... "stop the coo" etc?
X : Political protests?
Me : A bunch of people helping Dominic's play?
X : Are you going to be sensible?
Me : No, I'd hate to be alone.
X : Aren't you outraged?
Me : That's the point. You're supposed to get outraged. Then you look like the outraged. What's needed is not outrage but firm, solid action i.e. support Labour's proposal.
X : That's not going to happen.
Me : Then get used to a new Withdrawal Agreement.
X : Why a new Withdrawal agreement?
Me : What do you think is the point to prorogue Parliament? A new session, a drip feed of new "voter friendly" announcements and a new, ever so slightly modified WA?
X : Parliament won't vote for it.
Me : After going on protests about no deal?
