Yesterday, we had a call. A call that made 3 of my volunteers cry.
You see, an individual in need contacted @HarvestHillsYYC and asked for help with food. We have permission to tell his story and share his request with everyone.

It started off with a phone call to a new volunteer that was on her first on call shift over the Christmas Break. "N" called and left a message in which he asked to be called back as soon as possible.
So our volunteer Melanie returned his call.

She asked N what he needed help with & he said he needed help with food/rent cause he could pay his rent & not eat for the month & maybe eat once every 3 to 4 days....or pay some of his rent and be able to eat everyday and hope he could find the money to pay the rest of his rent.
If anyone can help, we would be very grateful. We are seeing even more of an increase in requests due to CERB ending and transitioning over to EI. (Which many do not qualify for, yet we hope help in any form arrives soon)

I just got DM’d by one of the families who were recipients of a “Gift Card” from @RajanJSaw office. They were given $100.00 in gift cards and that barely covered diapers and formula and left nothing over for food. Plus they had to then find a way to the grocery store.
And by the way if you are on Alberta Works and or AISH...you have to report to your worker that you received such a gift. And that could affect your monthly cheque.
That’s why HHCC does what they do. They tailor it to the family. They do the shopping so the families and or single parents don’t have to take everyone to the store for shopping. Especially in this #COVID19AB climate. After shopping, HHCC delivers the food hamper to the families.
