🧵So I've spoken to the family discussed in this post and it's worth explaining the terrible end of life predicaments some #LTC families are dealing with.

The family, who have had TERRIBLE experiences with their #ForProfit #LTC do not want their loved one to be sent back to that LTC to die in more neglect (obviously). They want them in a hospital, preferably in a palliative care wing where they can have better care provisioning.
Even the attending MD agreed. However, the 90+ year old #LTC resident (now hospital patient) has lived past the period the hospital staff thought he would (but he is still palliative, to be sure). Yet, this week's attending MD disagrees w/ initial MD for palliative placement.
🧵Previously, ALC patients chose 5 PREFERRED #LTC homes they would go to. Bill 7 works to enable a situation I describe below, where our most vulnerable can be charged US-style hospital fees for merely waiting for a safe and appropriate #LTC facility.

Before, you couldn't be forced to pay the UNINSURED hospital rate if you turned down an LTC that was not among your top 5.
Now, they're enabling hospitals to "continue the conversation" by effectively threatening to bankrupt them if they don't take the first bed available.

So they say there's "choice", but we all know threatening our most financially & medically vulnerable seniors (30.5% of which live in poverty in ON) w/ EXHORBITANT bills will force them to take the bad option presented to them simply because they cannot afford to wait it out.
You know what would help Students that I know who are dealing with #StudentLoan/#StudentDebt?
Actually use #Executive Order & Abolish All #StudentLoanDebt with a swivel of a pen.
That's what would help them & strengthen the #Economy!

Seriously! The only time he Eliminated #StudentDebt was for #ForProfit College Scams & other stuff, yet he promised to eliminate $10,000 #StudentLoan Debt he didn't do! But put aside $10,000 to Abolish, We have $1.73 Trillion of Student Debt in America which can all be abolished.
The @POTUS can use #Executive Order to Eliminate #StudentDebt with ease to help Americans who are being held back from debt that's god knows how long.
So forget abolishing just $10,000 of #StudentLoan, abolish all $1.7 Trillion of the #StudentLoanDebt!

I'll be on @CityNewsTO @ 6pm talking w/ @MaleehaCity about the @fordnation currently doling out 30 year contracts to #ForProfit LTC operators with terrible records. Tendercare & Orchard Villa are 2 such homes currently up for renewal - 2 homes w/ the WORST #COVID19 death rates.

➖Majority of these (16,304) are in process of being allocated to #ForProfit providers.
➖Of those, 12,084 have gone to 10 large chain companies w/ horrid records

and report it to John Trayner MD @TheGoAheadGroup London cc'ing TfL's Bus Bosses, @willnorman @CarolineRussell (of @LondonAssembly) @StopKillingCycl & me. The only way to ensure TfL & CityHall don't just #CoverUp for TfL Contractors' #SafetyFail is to shine a light on it.
In my experience, it's clear that TfL => Trade Association set up to protect its Bus & Tram Contractors instead of regulating their Safety Performance. Read @CarolinePidgeon's & @KeithPrinceAM's MQTs sometime & you'll see how far City Hall & TfL go to protect them from #Scrutiny
