WHEW My very first GDC is over and my heart is so full from all of the experiences I had with the wonderful people I met this week ❤️ I figured it would be helpful to share what I’ve learned as a first time GDC game audio nerd. #GDC22 #gameaudiogdc (1/22) Image
1. GDC is super pricey - Food, lodging, and the actual pass can add up to a scary number. Apply to be a Conference Associate, check out scholarships like the @audiogang & @IGDAFoundation scholar programs, and see what opportunities your school has to bring that cost down. (2/22)
If you feel like you could swing the trip, but only would be able to afford an expo pass, it’s still worth it! While the talks are great, most of my enjoyment this week was from socialising with folks outside of the main talks. (3/22)

Recap thread of my @Official_GDC talk yesterday, “Up Close & Virtual: The Power of Live VR Actors” for anyone interested in #MetaHumans #VR #Theatre #LiveEvents #SocialVR #CloudXR #CloudGaming. It will also be available in the GDC vault soon. Image
I started w/ my 2008 London story about how watching the best performers in the world from the front row had a profound effect on me. It’s different from a film close-up or from sitting in the back seats. You can hear some of the story in my #GTC21 talk:

Then I did a speed run of my work in #XR for designing real theaters before jumping right into showing Christmas Carol.

I enumerated 3 things that made this show possible:

1. Cloud computing (thanks @nvidia)

2. MetaHumans (thanks Epic)

3. Live Link Face (thanks Epic again) Image

Wanna hear about marketing first dev? Branding? SkateBIRD postmortem?

All that, AND MORE, if you decide to come to my #GDC22 talk today

Room 2001, West Hall
I expect to ramble and stutter a lot, but for once I have slides, so I'll at least ramble and stutter within a more narrow scope.

I'm a pro at this, even if I'm not actually very good at it. People just keep letting me near podiums. Their mistake, mwahahahah.
(oh and I won't actually be there, doing this one remote, so enjoy being the presence of my massive projected image)
