So many lessons to draw from #GE2109 for anyone working in org change ...
I’m hearing many people saying that Labour manifesto policies were popular, presumably in focus groups. But having policies even good policies, written down wasn’t enough ...
Novel, radical policies don’t sell themselves, and people don’t read documents, they don’t seek out info, especially in complex situations, and even if they do, exposure to alternative arguments reinforces prior beliefs, this is well known ...

Boris Johnson has retained his Uxbridge and Ruislip seat. He repeated some promises we've looked at during the campaign #BBCElection #GE2109
He said he would build 40 new hospitals - but money has only been pledged for six
He spoke of 50,000 more nurses - these won't all be new nurses. Some will be people already working as nurses who he will try to stop leaving the profession Image

Some thoughts on the controversy over checks NI-GB and GB-NI as per the Protocol in the WA. These have drawn a lot of heat so I'll try to put them in context:
1/ Whatever about Unionist complaints on the constitutional question, business reps @ManufacturingNI, NI Retail Consortium etc are angry for two reasons: the Irish Sea border will mean paperwork, cost, delays, disruption of supply chains etc...
2/ They were also kept out of the loop by Downing Street in Oct (as was the NI civil service). By contrast, they say both Theresa May and the EU TF50 engaged with them, and her UK-wide customs union resolved a lot of the pain they now potentially face.

My voting history. First #GeneralElection I was eligible for was 1992. That was just after the poll tax & I think I wasn't on the register. In 1997 I voted for @Lisa_Lovebucket of the Rainbow Referendum Dream Ticket Connection Party (I had to Google that to get it right)...
... & put a Reclaim The Streets "Never mind the ballots" sticker up in the polling booth. Thru the rest of the New Labour years I spoiled my vote as referenced in the @cartoonkate 'Blame me, I voted Lib Dem" cartoon… In 2015 I looked at how UKIP had...
... shifted the Overton window rightwards, even without winning a seat, so I decided I would vote for a party rather than writing what I thought & felt on the ballot. I voted Green. Neither them nor Labour had a chance in our constituency at that point

After that election...

Living in a safe seat? Worried your vote might not count? Let’s talk about Short money. That’s funding allocated to opposition parties to assist them in holding the government to account. It’s calculated from seats won AND for every 200 votes gained by the party. #GE2109
It’s quite a lot of money. The amount payable to qualifying parties in 2018/19 was £17,673.65 for every seat won at the last election plus £35.30 for every 200 votes gained by the party.…
So every vote counts, even in the safest seat in the country. #GetOutAndVote

Started the day in Haydon Bridge + Bardon Mill - great to see multi million £ revamp of the High School with massive build on site: just 1 of the many schools in Ponteland, Prudhoe, Hexham or Haltwhistle rebuilt or improved with national or local led Conservative investment Image
Loved the rainbow as we canvassed in #Allendale either side of the showers #GE2109 Image

Commuting home today with the ballot box! It’s coming to St Agnes early before the storm sets in to spend the night under lock and key. #Scilly #GE2109 Journey of the ballot box 1/

...and it’s safe on dry land, ready for the 70 voters of St Agnes to cast their precious (possibly crucial in the St Ives marginal) votes. But will the 8.4m forecast waves let it get back for the count tomorrow night? #GE2109 Journey of the ballot box 3/
