The Reason We Do What We Do….
This little 6 month old boy was at Kaufman Killpen all alone, scared & unhandled. When we saw him we just couldn’t look away. We knew we had to get him out of there & fast. Once we got him out of there he spent time in quarantine & has made it home.

I had the opportunity to meet this sweet boy this past weekend where he and I formed a bond of love and trust. I am humbled by the bond I formed with him. The peace and calm I felt from bonding with him was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
I walked into his pen with another member of the rescue and he handed me his lead rope. I stood there quietly waiting for him to see that all I wanted was to love him and not hurt him. I stood next to him, waiting for him to feel the love I had for him.
Do you see this poor horse? Sadly tonight, we will probably see him at the auction again.💔 He is stuck in the "slaughter pipeline," purchased by a horse trader who will continue to take him from auction to auction, exploiting him, trying to get the price he wants.😭

The first time we saw this poor boy, was at an auction over 2 months ago. He was fat and shiny and looked well cared for.❤ He did not sell, the trader wanted too much money for him.😭 Each time we see him at the auctions, his condition looks worse.😭

We would love to get him out of the pipeline of misery but we do not have $2,000 to save him.😭 This breaks our hearts seeing a once vibrant pony riding a child around in a halter, change to dull, thinner & sunburned with a chain & bar across his nose to control him💔

We were able to fill an additional 2 hampers on our list. We only have 4 hampers left to fill!
If we can raise funds to deliver the hampers tonight or first thing in the morning, we will be able to give everyone currently on our list a #thanksgivingCanada

We do an intake with the family and do our best to verify need and how emergent their need is. Whether they are ASAP Emergency(1 to 4 days of food left), Immediate Emergency (5 to 7 days of food left), Important Need (8 to 14 days of food left). 3/?

To give you a sense of what HHCC experiences daily, here are 5 families and a description of what they currently need help with. This is a long post so please bear with me. Just know that these families have already exhausted any and all other avenues available to them for help.
Family 1 (5 People): Needs $1300.00 rent (Utilities included) by August 1st 2020 or they will be served an eviction notice. Theyre a new family that arrived to YYC pre covid and had jobs but were laid off and the business hey were working at shut down completely and went bankrupt
Family 2 (8 People): In need of rent (Utilities included) in the amount of $1700.00. They have four special needs children who are severely autistic and with the program cuts and government firing of teachers and aides they have been...
We have a new family just arrived to #YYC before #Covid_19 hit #Calgary that needs @HarvestHillsYYC and @Hell_Berta’S help. He is a father of four that needs help paying rent or he will face eviction Aug 1st.
His rent is $1300.00 with everything included. He has been laid off from his job only to be told that he is not able to return due to his place of employment going under.
I will match each and every donation. I’d like to raise enough money to pay his rent for two months. That should give him enough time to find gainful employment.

A GOVERNMENT WHO IS SUPPOSED TO HELP AND PROTECT PEOPLE!!! Not squander away Albertans hard earned money by giving it to corporations and you’re good ole buddies who paid to get you elected! 2/?
I and the Harvest Hills Cares Calgary Team were the ones who provided necessary items and things to these Albertans. You and @RajanJSaw and the rest of the @Alberta_UCP have you’re god damn heads in the asses of big corporations when you should be making this province better 3/?
