Chances Conceded Thread - Gameweek 29

Hello! We are back with the longest Chances Conceded Thread ever!

Do RT if you like it ♻

Let's start with BHA vs BRE (H) & BOU (A):

Mitoma, March or Mac Allister?

Read on to find out 👇

#FPL
Even we at the Chances Conceded Factory can't separate the three!

While Mac Allister could do well against Brentford, March and Mitoma may be more suited to exploit Bournemouth's weakness down their flanks.
MUN vs NEW (A) & BRE (H):

Both Newcastle and Brentford have conceded most chances through their centre!

Even in the absence of Casemiro, we expect Bruno to occupy the right centre channel and could be an intriguing pick for the double.

Whom to Captain?

Option 1: Marcus Rashford – Man Utd

Fixtures: NEW (A), BRE (H)

There’s some doubt regarding Rashford’s fitness at the moment, & if he looks likely to miss the first game of the DGW that would obviously rule him out as a captaincy option. However, a fully fit Rashford would be…
…a standout captaincy pick this week, for a number of reasons. He’s got 10 goals in 12 PL games since the restart and the DGW consists of 2 games that you would expect Man Utd to win. Fitness issues aside, Rashford is both a solid and reliable option and a high upside pick.

Defensive xFDR - Gameweek 29🔥

Here's a graphic with fixture difficulty for the majority of teams based on the Home & Away xG of their opponent.

✍Key takeaways:

- BRE have a terrible double in GW29. Raya, Mee, Henry are all bad options.

#FPL #GW29
- BHA fixtures in GW29 are better defensively which makes a compelling case for having Estupinan or Dunk.

- LEI & NFO have the best fixtures defensively among all teams. However, the only asset worth going for is Keylor Navas.
- Defenders from teams like AVL, BHA, CHE, LEI, NFO & WHU might be good options as they all have one good fixture among the double.

- Players who could do well according to xFDR - Mings/Moreno, Estupinan/Dunk, Chilwell, Kepa, Iversen, Navas, Coufal.

Attacking xFDR - Gameweek 29🔥

Here's a graphic with fixture difficulty for the majority of teams based on the Home & Away xGC of their opponent.

✍Key takeaways:

- AVL & BRE have a difficult double in GW29. Keep minimum expectations from Toney & Watkins.

#FPL #GW29
- Those looking to move an ARS midfielder to Salah, be aware. The move can back fire in short term. The double for LIV in GW29 isn't appealing, while ARS have a good fixture.

- CHE have the best double attacking wise in GW29. A punt on Havertz/Felix could pay off.
- BHA have a decent double in GW29. Both their oppositions have conceded almost 1.35 xGC per 90. Mac Allister, Mitoma and March - All are great captaincy options.

- Players who could do well according to xFDR - ARS mids, Havertz/Felix, Maddison, BHA mids, B.Johnson, Haaland (🥶)

In this #FPL 🧵 let's take a look at why Solly March of #Brighton is a viable choice for captaincy during #GW27 and perhaps even #GW29 https://www.planetsport.com/soccer/news/solly-march-hits-bra
Fixtures
Brighton #GW27
- ⚪️Leeds (A)
- 🦅Crystal Palace (H)

Brighton #GW28
- Blank

Brighton #GW29
- 🐝Brentford (H)
- 🍒Bournemouth (A)

Based on recent form Brighton will be scoring goals in all of these fixtures, so why Solly March?
Assist Numbers

Since the World Cup break #March has ranked third in Premier League expected assists:

Assists post WC: 1
xA: 4.06
xA90: .53

This displays he's placing teammates in excellent positions to convert opportunities.

Now, how about goals?

Before I begin, I must warn you that only 3 of the top 20 FPL assets over the past 6 GWs are forwards, and one of them is Iheanacho. Only 8 of the top 20 are MIDs while more than half (11) are defenders or GKs. This trend towards more productive defense was predicted by

@FPLMariner’s attack and defense FDRs weeks ago. Currently, on a scale from 0 to 7 where 0 is best and 7 is worst, there are 17 teams w/ and offensive rating above 3.0 (remember the greater the number, the worse it is). Conversely, only 11 DEF rankings are above 3.0.

Life events, Der Klassiker & el Derbi Madrileño have prevented me from watching much of the #GW27 matches. I guess I must admit that the big red arrows I’ve been impaled with in FPL recently have also curbed my interest.
The result was interesting as it led to a quite stats heavy matchups article this week.
Among the most famous Buddhist paradoxes is “form is emptiness, emptiness is form.” I find this paradox best explained, however, by Taoism.

Watchlist #GW29 [Thread]

Defender - Doherty (6.2)

5 shots and 4 key passes last two weeks, a home game with Bournemouth in blank GW31 and a fixture run of BHA, whu, BOU, avl. In 2020, Wolves has the 2nd best xGA and Doc the 22nd highest xG in the league.

#FPL #FPLCommunity Image
Defender - Alonso. (6.0)

7 shots and 4 key passes in the last game gave an xGI of 1.29! - could be a great asset if Chelsea stick with 5ATB. Nice run of fixtures upcoming but notably will blank in GW31. Everton next, a team despite their form has not won in 38 games vs 'top 6'. Image
Midfielder - Sarr (6.3)

Shouted him last week but worth another read of these stats: 18 shots and 10 key passes in last 5 starts, plays in GW31 and a great run of cp, LEI, bur, SOT. Image

#GW1 “A strategy in place”

Kept an eye on preseason games & formulated what I thought was a solid strategy based on players form from last season (BIG mistake)

Decent start with 68 pts
#GW2 to #GW8 “Abandoned Strategy”

The World Cup with late returns, lack of fitness, PL team selection chaos played havoc on my #FPL team.

Time for a re-think & major surgery.
