How 1 brave esports host sacrificed her multi-million dollar network, career & the careers of her associates to complain about imaginary misogyny🔦

OH.....& how she mentioned G4 hosts don't play the games they have to review😬 #gaming #G4TV #gamers
Gaming world spiraled into outrage earlier this month when Indiana @Froskurinn Black, host of Comcasts new gaming network @G4TV lectured viewers on finding her less “bangable” than previous hosts

Lecture so shrill & destructive,
Must be seen to be believed👀
@FDRLST #frosk #rant
Outburst racked up millions of views across social media & gaming outlets covering the story

Old fans of G4, unaware the network had relaunched, were blasted w/ the decadent state of their old favs 😵‍💫

I recently went through a lot of applications for a job opening that we filed & I want to share some insights of what may give you an edge when writing an application!

Theyre probably all pretty basic but jumped out to me in a lot of applications!

#gamedev #gamejobs 🧵1/12
First of all, its worth mentioning these were for a (Mid Level) Unity Programmer job opening. Of course we received applications from people of varying skill levels, so the quality of applications also varied a lot.

But some of these mistakes also happened to senior peeps 2/12
1️⃣ Too much/little detail

Plenty of the applicants were either extremely over- or undersharing. I had to read multiple pages in the introductory e-mail or sometimes only a "I want the job. Find my resume". Both are giving away your chances. 3/12

Some feedback for #gamejobs applicants (a thread):
#gamejobs applicants – You really need to include a resume and portfolio in our submission to companies.

Show us your work, and have people aggressively curate your portfolio to show your best work. (People who know their stuff, and maybe don't love you.)
#gamejobs applicants – I don't need to see your history of how you've grown since your back-of-notebook-metal-sketches-from-third-period-history.

I need to see where you are now. I take it as a given you've grown as a professional, and my job is to help you grow even more.

We need to talk about applying for game dev jobs - I get a lot of CV and emails though about work and I am seeing the same mistakes again and again. Here are my super top 10 tips on what to do and what not to do when applying for jobs, especially entry level – #gamedev #gamejobs
1 – Introduce your self! - When you send an initial email, tell me who you are! What’s your name where do you come from WHATS YOUR SPECIALITY. I get many emails just asking if there are any ‘jobs’ going. If we are not advertising please tell me what you do!
2 – Put your best foot forward - “I am a writer/concept artist/animator” Are you really? Please think long and hard about this one. Chances are you excel in one area. I have yet to meet anyone who excels at more than one discipline that hasn't got 10/20+ years experience
