Morte en février 2016, à l'âge de 80 ans, la Sœur allemande Milgitha Kösser, membre de la congrégation des Sœurs de Saint Clément de Münster, était arrivée au Rwanda en 1973 et s'occupait comme infirmière du centre de santé de Kaduha dans la région rurale et isolée de Gikongoro.
Refusant de priver de soins les malades de son centre de santé, elle a fait le choix de rester au Rwanda (en compagnie de Sœur Quirina Lengsfeld) pendant le génocide.

I was home from university for the Easter holidays when the massacres began and I remember my parents and I being transfixed by the news.

They’d been aid-workers for decades.

Dad was with the UN’s refugee agency.

Mum, a child psychologist, worked with child soldiers.
Neither were naïve about the world’s darker corners, but the speed and scale of the savagery in Rwanda left everyone reeling.
