Well, I got 2 messages before 9am from friends telling me they have #COVID19 in their households. And in the 12 mins since, I’ve just heard about 4 more. So Merry Exponential Growth #Omicron #Christmas. 🌲 😫

A quick 🧵 on what to do if that’s you since I’m typing it anyway.
1/ The first thing to say is that if someone has #COVID19 symptoms (#Omicron most common: nasal congestion/runny nose, scratchy sore throat, fever, & aches), you have to assume they have it. You may not have a test (urgent cares are still open & do) or they may still be neg.
2/ You, as the person exposed to the one with symptoms, have to assume that you both do & don’t have #Omicron too. Wait, what? 🤔

I mean: assume you could infect others now & take care to avoid exposing them, BUT don’t assume it’s too late for you to avoid getting it.

My Lockdown takeaways from Week 2 - 1. Staff Wellbeing - Being apart, doesn't mean we can't support each other or be together. At lunch times set up a zoom for those you may normally catch up with, share your experiences. Try to make your day as normal as possible. #teacher5aday
2. Journey time - if you usually have a 30 minute commute to work #getoutside and take a walk before your day starts. The fresh air, sounds of the birds and watching the sun rise can really set you up for a great day. Same at the end, walk, reset and unwind. Take time for you.
3. Be organised - we can all feel busy, but to be efficient be organised. @SFL2326 shared a great article today which l will summarise...a pianist will only play beautiful music if the notes are played in the correct order...make a list, set realistic goals for the day #wellbeing

MAY 16th

Combination of tweet plus clip from Question Time.
A warning that those saying the virus will miraculously disappearing are just telling people what they want to hear, and that inevitably and frustratingly “cases will go up”.

May: Side note

The group downplaying the severity of #SARSCov2 back in March returned in May to double-down on claims the majority of UK population was already infected & the pandemic was all but over. Again.

They were mistaken again, but still persist.

Cummings.
The worst thing isn’t the act, but total lack of leadership & ownership in Govt response.

No, I’ve not moved on. It’s not like I’ve been distracted by their mind-blowing Public Health response. That’s just me, Devi’s take is here:

THREAD: #SARSCov2 insights from @devisridhar.

Initial objective was to collate a timeline for myself, then I thought it may be useful to others too.

I intended to capture one item for each month, but some months were so packed the thread grew 🙃

Brief summary at end.

JANUARY 16th

“Take it seriously [...] over-responding is better than delaying action.”

Advice from 16th Jan is still just as relevant today as the basis for an ongoing national response.

FEBRUARY 9th

“If praising is the cost, it's worth paying for the benefit”

As governments criticised close relationship between China & WHO, a clear explanation why diplomacy was needed for the betterment of global understanding and response.

So rarely do we get to ride in a way that allows us to connect and engage with those riding around us. This ride is almost all on multi-use trails and is designed to allow for connection. Tell your friends, bring your family. Ride ahead or break off early! Completely casual.

Stops to take photos and regroup will be encouraged. We'll take a longer break at the Tommy Thompson lighthouse for food and rest before turning around.

About climbing my 1st 14er, campaigning for @PeteButtigieg at 14,000ft, finding community with strangers, an electrifying moment, and the biggest surprise of my life!
We arrived at the #MtEvans trailhead around 7:30am, the peak was lost in fast moving clouds. #14er
Mt Evans magnets & shirts don't lie, the GOATS! So awesome.
We had goats greet us at the trailhead, we kept our distance &
ogled them with delight. #14ers

#TeamPete, I brought my @playmobil #minime & a #Pete2020 banner for some inspiring photos exploring #AmericatheBeautiful.
