Looking forward to this documentary. Michelle McNamara's book "I'll be Gone in the Dark" is quite stellar and she followed the #GoldenStateKiller case for many years. I think I jumped and fell out of my chair when I read they caught him.

Michelle McNamara coined the term "Golden State Killer" as Joseph D'Angelo operated across California. She died before he was caught. While I'm torn about the use of genealogical DNA profiling, I do know that there are many many cold cases that have been given a new lease of life
because of this technique. Its all super hush hush for now because law enforcement fears legislation may make it harder to apply this technique.

For more on this follow the work of the DNA Doe Project.

DeAngelo back in court today but I'll be watching from home. I have a lot to say about what's going on but will wait and write it up this afternoon. We may hear a few arguments today. Last time we had this judge, the room was rather chaotic. /1 #GSK #EARONS
Here's what I'll be watching for:
1. The courtroom vibe. Will be hard for me to see everything via just video, but it interests me to watch the attorneys.
2. Will every jurisdiction be there. Ventura will be, I expect the others although one sometimes sends a surrogate. /2
3. How much more weight has DeAngelo lost. Paige St. John also watches this and she might have a BMI estimate for us after court.
4. Why does the defense need MORE time. We are closing in on two years. It is what it is and none of it is exculpatory (doesn't prove innocence). /3

Assembly Hearing where AB 141 is about to come up -this bill was born from the #EastAreaRapist #GoldenStateKiller case. It would allow Sacramento County to be reimbursed for the major costs of trying such a complicated case. @FOX40 ImageImage
I first heard about this legislation from my trailblazing (former)co-anchor and reporter @awolfTV who absolutely knocked it out of the park on @FOX40’s #GoldenStateKiller coverage with her #Exposed podcast. Hope we’re doing her justice today with our coverage of this one Image
Prosecutors and the attorneys who’ll have to defend Joseph Deangelo, the #EastAreaRapist #GoldenStateKiller suspect both want state’s help paying for trial. They estimate it’ll cost upwards of $20 million-investigation spanned forty yrs-100+burglaries, 50 rapes, 13 murders @FOX40 Image
