@GovKathyHochul showed up to Sunset Park and not only used MLK legacy but also Sunset park community as pawns to push her conservative judge. And the worst part was she brought police with her and kicked out a respected, afro-latina leader who belongs to the church. #NoLaSalle
Politicians use churches to push themselves but this was so crass and blatant. Hochul barely even talked about MLK before switching to promoting Lasalle nomination and twisting MLK’s words to justify a moderate who literally thought racial bias in jury selection was totally fine
Hochul even went to the low of talking about dissent to Lasalle as if it’s was basically all lies when opposition has been based on clear cases that trigger huge concerns about his judgement and ideology. #NoLaSalle

Yesterday, we won.

We ended last night with a 58% majority, winning by more than 26 percentage points.

Neighborhoods across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens resoundingly elected a 27-year-old socialist Latina to office. ImageImage
Thanks to you, our movement beat more than a million dollars in money meant to stop us.

Our collective victory showed that our power as democratic socialists isn't just safe, it's growing. Image
And we want to thank each and every one of you for making this victory possible, whether you joined us on Election Day or have been with us since March.

icing on the cake: the new owner appears to be none other than notorious slumlord peter hungerford. but we’ve taken him on before and we can take him on again!

a thread on peter, the hungerford building, @RocTenantUnion, and how we fight back 1/7
peter hungerford was one of the worst slumlords in rochester — 100s of open code violations, truly horrific conditions like black mold, sewage back up, displaying a complete disregard for human dignity. 2/7 democratandchronicle.com/story/news/201…
tenants in his buildings like @Snowhyte5 organized, went on rent strikes, stopped mass evictions, got the city to sue him, forced the sale of his properties, and won #GoodCause protections for themselves along with million dollar renovations!!! 3/7 democratandchronicle.com/story/news/202…
