Obvious that experienced matriarch should lead #elephant family. She has accumulated immense traits/wisdom due to her long life. Which comes handy in long journeys & dangers. So when matriarch dies of some accident, the herd is directionless for some time.
Males keep on joining & leaving herds. Well one of the accepted theory is. That males when they get young are pushed out from the herd/family by dominant female, also called as matriarch. To check the inbreeding. Which only shows elephants are highly intelligent.

#Grandmother and #GRANDdaughter #fatherdaughter
A story

"Amma, I am going to the Mall along with my wife and daughter."

"OK Son. You go ahead. Already my legs are paining. I am not interested in coming to the Mall. You go ahead."
" Grandma, you should also come" insisted the grand daughter ...

"Grandma cannot climb all those steps in the Mall. She does not know how to use the escalator. As there are no temples there, Grandma would not be interested.
She is interested only in going to temples" said the daughter in law.

Though Grandma agreed with this statement, Grand daughter was adamant. She refused to go to the Mall if Grandma was not accompanying them.

The male usually leave at the age of 12-15 years. Then keep joining & leaving herd, same or another temporarily. A kid is raised by all females. They raise them and impart all the accumulative wisdom, since an elephant has long lifespan they do have acquired wisdom.
This joining of another herd by a male is not that easy. The existing male (temporary) tries to resist. Some incidents led to fights also, which goes for days. Some such fights are fatal for one. Result of one such, where this was trying to join a herd. Was killed in infighting.

@sickanddamned @erikmoldwarrior @MBVanElzakker @paintingsbysam @courtneylgunter @FrontPediatrics Studies on the bacterial #pathogen h. pylori are a good example of that trend 👉 #Mother’s frequently pass h.pylori to their children (via womb or close contact)☝️but even infected fathers + siblings can be a source of the inherited pathogen: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/19098… ImageImage
