iOS vs. GrapheneOS

In terms of #privacy and #security, GrapheneOS absolutely crushes iOS on so many levels. A few awesome features are listed here.

🧵
@GrapheneOS is an #opensource operating system based on AOSP, focused on #security and #privacy. It is designed to be used on mobile devices, and includes features such as verified boot, sandboxing, and exploit mitigations.
It also includes the ability to use different encryption methods, and the ability to use VPNs and the Tor network to enhance #privacy.

GrapheneOS is geared more towards security-conscious and privacy-conscious users and has a #opensource ecosystem.

We've purchased grapheneos.social and it we'll be hosting an official Mastodon instance for our project accounts there in the near future.

If you follow @grapheneos@infosec.exchange right now, you'll be automatically moved over to following the new account on our instance.
fedifinder.glitch.me will scan the profiles of the people you follow on Twitter to find them on the fediverse (Mastodon). It helps you choose an instance and gives you a list of their handles to import into your new account so you can keep a lot of the people you follow there.
We'll still be posting the same content on Twitter, but not everyone will be doing that. Most of the people in the infosec community worth following have moved to the fediverse, largely to infosec.exchange, and there's much more activity/discussion in the community there.

Freenode admins hijacked the #grapheneos and #grapheneos-offtopic channels due to us migrating to Matrix rooms:

gist.github.com/thestinger/eb9…

They removed our channel moderation privileges, changed the topic and set the channel to invite-only preventing users from joining/rejoining. Screenshot of Weechat (IRC ...
It justifies our urgent migration away from freenode.

Be careful what you say in private messages on freenode because the new admins can easily read them and may retaliate if you speak badly about them.

See arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/0… and vice.com/en/article/m7e… for more details.
Please join #grapheneos:grapheneos.org and #grapheneos-offtopic:https://t.co/f02rVtJa8a via Matrix. Links to join via the Element web client:

We're going to be pushing out Beta releases of GrapheneOS for Android 11 in the near future. It's almost ready for broader testing. A bunch of our hardening features are going to be missing in the initial Beta releases. Still need a lot of the low-level hardening ported over.
Please use the Stable channel if you can't tolerate getting updates with serious bugs. It's extremely helpful to have people using the Beta releases and reporting problems or providing additional information. Please use the issue tracker and check for existing issues though.
If you're unsure about whether an issue should be filed or need help, please use the #grapheneos IRC / Matrix channel. Please don't directly contact specific developers report issues. The issues need to be reported to the development team as a whole, not only specific developers.
