Well that’s it. I am quitting @UKLabour. I don’t expect anyone to care, but let me explain via this thread why, so as to act as a cathartic cleansing for my soul.
I could have quit....

When Starmer won the leadership without releasing his list of big money donors during the leadership contest.
I could have quit....

When early on it looked like he was reigning in on his promise not to talk to The S*n

[thread] Red Labour would like to congratulate all the socialist candidates from the #GrassrootsVoice slate who were elected on to the NEC last night. What it shows is that the grassroots left is still a force in the party. We can & must build on this. (1/10)
However, there are some lessons to learn & fast. When we came into the @CLGALabour NEC campaign, Red Labour drew up a strategic plan where the entire #GrassrootsVoice slate would be supported by the collective organisations in the CLGA. We would work as a collective. (2/10)
Undoubtedly, the adoption of a single, unified slate & the decision to preference the vote by region were major factors in achieving the result. All of that took hard work, hours of negotiation, some of it very frustrating. But the biggest decision was to campaign as one. (3/10)

The Newsnight film on Labour's divisions under Starmer was pretty accurate... but 1/ Look how easily it has provoked more divisions. Len McCluskey's "counting gold" comment about Mandelson was a disgrace and so was Unite's initial defence of it... he is right to apologise...
2/ The allegation of Starmer being "untrustworthy" from Diane Abbot sounded to me like a left that has no intention of fighting for influence in a battle of ideas... I hope the #GrassrootsVoice NEC slate stays well away from this...
3/ There's a growing logic: the disaffiliation of a big union, a provoked confrontation over the EHRC report, a Unite-led "faction" so that tankies can live in a well-funded echo chamber while abdicating the struggle for a Labour government...

[thread] What does power mean to most of us in this country? What kind of power is actually useful to the majority of us? Is it the power of Governments committed to a harsh, uncaring capitalist system? #GV6 #GrassrootsVoice (1/7)
Is it powerful corporations extracting more & more resources from our earth & more wealth from the workers who inhabit it? Do powerful banks work in our interests? What about powerful landlords? (2/7)
What if power could be used differently? Out of the hands of those who use it against our interests, whose business is death & destruction? Taken away from people who make decisions with disregard for the consequences – for our planet, for our well-being & health? (3/7)

[thread] When our opponents talk about socialism, they either talk about it as though it is some sort of utopian, fantasy idea that can never happen or a dangerous alternative to what we have right now. I just don’t connect with that view at all. (1/8) #GV6 #GrassrootsVoice
My view of socialism is as a political expression of love for one another - a system based on our natural drive to love one another. The truth is, for so many millions of people in the UK & elsewhere in the world this capitalist system is hard, scary & uncertain.(2/8)
Socialism is a set of principles, a different way to organise the world. It is based on a common love for our fellow human beings - not about seeing other people as competition, but as others we can work with, who can enrich our experience in life. (3/8)
