This AM I entered the uranium sector in a small manner. Been watching the market and learning for some time now. I bought pure play physical uranium trust units. Not explorers, not producers. I may or may not buy producers, possibly explorers.
Given the spot price of uranium is a secret until the last day of each month and the longitudinal spot price suffered immensely post-Fukushima now is a moment to act. Others, bolder, perhaps much smarter, moves a year or so ago.👏
There have been some instantial minor see-saws for the last decade, but the market has gradually strengthened and a number of factors are bringing nuclear power into the public psyche.

Over the course of a week, I gradually introduced circular error into the GNSS readings, reducing it's accuracy to disrupt their work. At the end of it, both the sensor network and the base station were demolished, to prevent them from fixing the damage caused. 2/4

I am trying to envision a natural or manmade regional event within the United States and Canada, specifically their connected power grids, where due to events beyond the control of... 2/
... any Balancing Authority (regional system operator) resulted in one of those BAs needing to isolate itself ("Island") from its interconnected neighbors, then was not reconnected (synchronized) once its system demonstrated system stability for (some) period of time. 3/
If you think gas and energy prices are bad now, just wait as the climate crisis continues to take a toll on infrastructure (wildfires, floods, hurricanes, wind). Pumping more gas is only a temporary pricing fix, but it's a long term accelerator creating more issues.
Things we can do now: 1. decentralize to more resilient power (rooftop solar, batteries, microgrids) 2. decarbonize (wind, solar, geothermal) 3. Less individual transport, more bicycling/walking/mass transit first, EVs if you can, hybrid where necessary. 4. lots of disaster prep.
ps. I'm chuckling at all the folks commenting on "that's so dark" or "why the depressing content"... you must have missed reading any of the posts on this account through the last two dozen disasters ;-)
ZBF release finally draws closer (zero2050usa.com). We have been working to get the data/report out & understandable. Here is a short thread with some interesting observations that we made. First, here is a cheat sheet for our scenarios (a wide spread of possibilities)
First, we find that scenarios have huge amounts of #wind & #solar. We also find that deployment rates for these (& #storage) must dramatically increase to reach our goals (with and without novel generation).
This becomes increasingly important for limited technology cases & huge for #storage in terms of energy capacity.
Getting the whole world to #netzero #GHGs rapidly is going to be incredibly difficult. But given how strong and organized the #climateopposition is, we must distinguish #thesignalfromthenoise on which pathways are the most likely to succeed. A 🧵 on how I think about this 1/14

Reliability is the behavior of an asset according to what is built to do w/o "breaking". Wind turbines & photovoltaics (WT+PV) are reliable when they generate according to blowing wind & shining sun. They are unreliable when a WT blade breaks or PV get hot-spots. -2/n
In other words WT+PV #volatility has nothing to do w/ reliability. Pushing the "volatility=reliability" narrative is unscientific, if not plain bad use of the language we all agree upon to communicate w/. -3/n

We performed five scenarios for the MT #grid. Long-story-short, the MT grid can run #reliably without #coal or #naturalgas & become 100% #renewable by 2035. MT still needs import/exports w/ other regions; but exports far more than imports. Image shown is 2050.
