For those of you like me who didn’t grow up going to cotillion and learned some table manners but not all, there are some things you should know before you sit down for dinner today...
When someone asks you to pass the salt, you pass both the salt AND the pepper. I don’t know why. You just do...
The small plate for bread & butter goes on the left. I didn’t learn this until I worked banquets in my 20’s. I also learned what all the third fork and second spoon were for...

Don’t forget to read the Thanksgiving Proclamation🇺🇸 #HappyThanksgiving…
“a day of public #thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”
“we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness..for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge..” #ThanksgivingProclamation

A thread for Thanksgiving:
When I was a kid I told my mother that I didn’t think anyone would ever love me enough to want to marry me. 1/7
When I was a teenager I considered marrying my first boyfriend — who was awful — even though I didn’t love him. (“I’ll have kids,” I told myself, “and I’ll love *them*.”) 2/7
In my early twenties I considered marrying a man who I’m fairly certain cheated on me because I figured I wouldn’t be lucky enough to convince a *third* person to date me. 3/7

While we think of Thanksgiving as an American holiday, we don't have the market cornered on harvest celebrations.

I explored autumn festivals from around the world in this series for @rosettastone , including sharing traditional recipes.
(2) First up we have Sukkot, a biblically-based holiday sometimes called the Festival of Booths where Jewish people celebrate the exodus of the Israelites and the bounty God provided.

Also, there's challah with honey and I'm ALWAYS down for that.…
(3) Next we have Olivagando. Italians celebrate la dolce goccia or the “sweet drop" with a fall festival. I chat with @chefchuck1 about why Italians value olive oil and how to choose a good one.

I also made a very pretty olive oil cake. You're welcome.…

It’s nice to be courteous and the best thing it doesn’t cost...
I list below Some #TooGoodNotToShare and #SimpleWaysToShowCourtesy AND DIGNITY..

1 In case you miss a call, drop a message as soon as possible if you're unable to call back
2 Pay back borrowed money as soon as possible no matter how little the amount is. Do not opt to clear your personal needs first at the cost of your lender's personal needs. IT'S BAD MANNERS!
Don't assume that they don't need it, and never make them ask you for it
3 Do not ask for a lift & make the person wait for you.Instead, position yourself at a convenient place so that they do not have to divert from their route
4 Turn volume down if watching video, playing music or playing game on your phone in a public place or better, use headphones

What a great day so far. Called an audible this morning about frying the turkey, as the darn thing was too big according to the directions 21lbs, not to mention she's clearly a Diva who was still partially frozen even after 4 days thawing in the fridge. Water bath time.
Had to re-write the "production schedule" for everything else completely. Good news, I had 4 other capable and willing to help pairs of hands! My 3 kids, and the eldest's new GF. She's darling btw.
We went for the Hail Mary. Decided to go with the homemade butter cajun injected marinade idea (1st time ever) once Diva was thawed. Myy son the "Product Designer" figured out the hieroglyphic instructions to the digital probe thermometer too.

1) 4,400 words long—7,600 w/amendments—& just four simple pages, our Constitution is the oldest—and shortest—written one in the world.

Nothing more important than the creation of those four pages has occurred in our history as a nation. #HappyThanksgiving…
2) Our United States is a Constitutional Republic—characterized by a constitutionally limited government—with powers separated between three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial.
3) This structure was created precisely because our Founding Fathers were acutely aware of the dangers inherent in a pure democracy.

As John Adams famously noted, “There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”

Holidays redefined in post-Trump America..As we fight on (not with our families?!) we also begin to heal. #HappyThanksgiving…
2/"Earlier this month, Post Opinions asked readers how their holiday gatherings have changed since Donald Trump’s election to the presidency in 2016. No politics at the table? Only politics at the table? No table at all? More than 200 people from across the country (with a dozen

Before you set off to celebrate with family, friends, and loved ones, I wanted to let you know how thankful I am for all of you.

Together, we did something amazing this year–we won back a Majority in the House. Come January, that Majority will fight for our values & priorities.
We must remember all those who cannot spend this day with their families. For all our military men and women fighting to protect our liberty, and all the family members who love and support them, we will be forever thankful for your sacrifices.
I hope everyone has a safe and #HappyThanksgiving –NP

Across America, families, friends, and loved ones gather together to reflect and celebrate the blessings of liberty. #HappyThanksgiving
We thank God for our country, which is a beacon of freedom for the world, and for the generations of men and women who have stood, and continue to stand ready to defend it.
This tradition of gratitude, first practiced by the Pilgrims following their courageous journey to the New World, has been woven into the very fabric of our nation.

Due to repeated demand again this year, I'm sharing my #Thanksgiving mashed potatoes recipe.

1 5lb bag of red potatoes
1 stick of butter (real butter, don't pollute my recipe with fake stuff)
8 - 10 oz sour cream (don't use low-fat fake "food products")
3 tbs chives
Salt and red chili powder to taste
1/2 cup whole milk (skim milk is for wusses)
1 pack turkey bacon, diced
Cut potatoes into quarters and place in a large pot. Bring to boil until they get very soft. Drain, run cold water over potatoes and remove skin (can leave some on if desired.)

Place peeled potatoes back in the pot, turn on heat to medium, add sour cream and butter.
