Sen. Rounds, who had his own dust-up with Trump over election-denialism, cited “a failure by some candidates to have the courage to publicly say to their supporters that there was no evidence that would have changed the outcome of the [2020] election.”

Sen. Coons said the midterm results were a vindication of Biden’s focus on democracy in the final days of the campaign, even as he was getting hammered over inflation:

“Once again, a man with 50 years of elected experience…actually read the moment better than the commentariat”

We're back at day two of the Halifax International Security Forum. Follow this thread for some interesting things. #HFX2022 twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
The Forum opened this morning with a fiery conversation on democracy in Iran with @AlinejadMasih. "My goal is to bring the regime down," she said.

"We the people of Iran can run the country better than these backwards mullahs."

✊
Alinejad was just in Paris to pressure Emmanuel Macron to support the revolutionary movement in Iran. She just told the Forum that Macron was incredibly supportive, and promised to rally the G7 to the people of Iran's side. theguardian.com/world/2022/nov…

My message at #HFX2022 today: From the ashes of the Second World War emerged a rules-based international order which has underpinned global security and prosperity for nearly 80 years.

That order is based on a set of shared values meant to govern international relations. Minister Anand addresses the 2022 Halifax International Secu
Collectively, we face two paths.

Do we let the hard-fought gains of the past 80 years slip away, and return to a world where might makes right?

Or do democracies stand together to preserve the longest stretch of progress, cooperation, and freedom the world has ever known? Minister Anand addresses the 2022 Halifax International Secu
Canada, for its part, is firmly on the side of liberal democracy and international order. The number of Ukrainian flags flying in solidarity in communities across this country makes that abundantly clear. Minister Anand addresses the 2022 Halifax International Secu

On the plenary session of #HFX2022 I outlined main elements of a long-term strategy the Euro-Atlantic community needs now.
1: The strategy should not take the fear of what happens when Russia is defeated as a starting point.
2: NATO must implement the decision to move to a modern forward defence posture urgently.

Petro Poroshenko, former Preisdent of Ukraine, is speaking to CBC in the press room. He's slamming this week's bombardment of Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

"We don't trade freedom for electricity." Image
Poroshenko, once an intense rival of Zelensky, is making Kyiv's wartime pitch: More "anti-aircraft, air-missile, anti-drone [systems]," he says.

After withdrawing from Kherson, Russia concentrates attacks in the Donbass and destroys Ukrainian infrastructure with airstrikes. Ukraine is consolidating on the southern Dnipro and continuing to attack in the Luhansk region. What is the situation and what is needed?🧵
After more than 20,000 Russian troops were placed in a precarious supply situation by the Ukrainian "slice and starve" attack that began in August, the Russians managed a withdrawal operation from the southwestern bank of the Dnipro River. 2/
In the retreat, troops and weapon systems were systematically withdrawn to the other bank of the river simultaneously with evacuated civilians over a period of weeks. The Russians also delayed Ukraine's advance with deceptive maneuvers and systematic mining. 3/
