Here’s a thread with some questions that will feature in the #HIGNFY quiz book this November. With so much hilarious/terrifying news that's already happened this year, it wasn't easy choosing five. We’ll tweet answers tomorrow.

I tried to warn Ian Hislop about these people a few times years and years and years and years ago, but he wouldn't listen. I was a blogger and therefore not capable of real journalism in his eyes.

To be specific: I reported to Ian Hislop several times that Tories including Nadine Dorries were using false allegations of criminal behaviour to target their critics.

He never took this seriously.

(It did not help that @adam_macqueen involved himself.)
Adam Macqueen sided with Iain Dale over some allegations that got this kicking off when the first fabricated evidence started showing up. He made some intemperate comments that the people involved continue to throw in my face to day, years later, just as I told him they would.

Meet Mohammed al-Masari. He’s a former physics professor and leading critic of the Saudi Arabian royal family. In 1996 he fled to the UK and sought asylum. The Saudis demanded that the British should expel him. 1/ Image
This presented the then Tory government with the opportunity to show how much it cared for human rights, an opportunity which, obviously, it flunked. 2/
Now clearly Dr al-Masari would be tortured or killed if sent back, so how could the government placate the furious Saudis w/out breaking the law? They decided to send him to Dominica, in the Caribbean.

“You must obey lockdown rules or face a £10,000 fine & I’d call the police on my neighbour, no hesitation!” says @MattHancock who publicly gave full backing to #DominicCummings when he broke lockdown rules.

You don’t see much of this #Cummings interview.

Luckily I recorded it.
Asked why he didn’t tell the truth about his movements until it was exposed by @PippaCrerar & @DailyMirror, #DominicCummings
explains:

“I thought that If I start explaining things it will cause more confusion.”

Awkward thing, the truth, isn’t it Dom!
“I did not offer to resign. I did not think about resigning.” #DominicCummings

At the time, when I watched this live, I tweeted: “This question will end #Cummings’ political career”

It should have done

It is beyond comprehension how he was permitted to just carry on as normal.

I’d love to know who Tim Davie’s top 3 right wing comedians were

@bbccomedy
Comedians do tend to skew left wing, but that’s only because it’s hard to make money at others expense on the comedy circuit.
However I’d also argue that a comedians job (like a journalist) is to hold truth to power. As such it’s inevitable that they’ll be biased against whoever is in power at the time. It just so happens that we’ve had a right wing government for a long time now.
