🧵 With New Year approaching, I thought I'd share some of my favourite moments and photos from my 2022 archaeological travels, which have seen me travel to Egypt, Turkey, Hadrian's Wall and Algeria.

Sailing on Lake Nasser in Egypt between Aswan and Abu Simbel and visiting the temples that used to lie on the banks of the Nile but were moved when the Aswan High Dam flooded the region in the 1960s.

Visiting the relocated Wadi es-Sebua temple with its beautiful avenue of sphinxes. The temple was built during the reign of Ramesses II and was dedicated to the deified pharaoh, Amun-Ra, and Ra-Harakhty.

Wellcome to our virtual walk from Ambleside to Howtown on Lake Ullswater. I’ve based the route on #HadriansHighWay by @fellranger1 which he uses a variant to the main route. Books can be bought direct or through @VindolandaTrust
A view of #Ambleside from Wansfell our starting point in the heart of the #LakeDistrict @CumbriaMagazine
We can start at the roman fort at the edge of #Windermere. The Romans stated to push into the lakes in the early 90’s AD, this fort dates to the rebuild in Hadrian’s Reign possibly after warfare which brought about #HadriansWall #Ambleside

It's #BackBritishFarming day!🇬🇧

#Northumberland’s farmers are so important to our local community, and have worked hard during the Covid pandemic to fill our plates, and keep us fed so I, and many others, want to say thank you 1/: 🥳🎉🧑‍🌾 ImageImageImageImage
And it is also about managing our iconic landscapes like the farms who are part of the #NorthernHillFarmingPanel and higher level stewardship areas of South Northumberland that I visited with the @Natures_Voice a few years back 2/ Image
And landscapes have to be managed to ensure #HadriansWall survives through farmers fields

And the curlew and plovers on our uplands and moorlands survive and thrive 3/ Image
