Gee. Who warned again & again about the damn barcodes printed on machine marked paper ballots (as opposed to pen & paper). I did! And, of course, @MarilynRMarks1, @jhalderm, @rad_atl, @SEGreenhalgh, @TheBradBlog, etc. (PS. ES&S uses them too.) #BanBarcodeVoting 1/

Here's the new For the People Act (Freedom to Vote Act). In one respect, it's better than the earlier versions in that it requires that all voters have the option to mark their ballots by hand (with a pen) AT THE POLLING PLACE. #HandMarkedPaperBallots 1/ klobuchar.senate.gov/public/_cache/…

If we won’t publicly hand count ballots at precincts then maintaining a transparent chain of custody is crucial. Unfortunately, this is more difficult w/ vote by mail than in person voting. I’m told it can be done. We must make it a priority. Peoples’ lives are being threatened.
The difficulty maintaining a transparent chain of custody does not mean that fraud has occurred. It means you can’t prove that it hasn’t. Which is dangerous under current circumstances especially.

These barcode ballot machines will not work on election day if the power goes out. We will be left with a stack of blank receipts instead of pre-printed ballots that will keep voting going.
These barcode ballot machines are a waste of taxpayer money (cost at least 3x as much as #HandmarkedPaperballots)
