When we think of iph risk, we still expect women to appear with bruises and broken bones, for their partners to be drug users and unemployed and to be in touch with stat services. That we will be able to detect risk by just looking at her and the abuser. But they may not be.
Based on our IPH research, Baxter was a Fixated Threat offender.

✅️He was employed.

Every time I read an article about a woman being killed at the hands of someone she once loved, I sit & hold that heavy thought: will this be how my story ends too? When will I be able to trust there will be a legal system in this country that will adequately protect my son & I..
/if we were in danger? There is so much injustice weaved into a system that suggests custody should be split between parents, even if there is a history of violence. All it takes is a single incident alone with a child to have devastating consequences...

Domestic Violence...every time I hear "Why didn't she just leave?" I'm overcome with fear.
I have never publically shared my experience but #HannahClarke is my strength to do it today....
Two decades ago, I was a wife, a Mum & going to the supermarket was dependant on wether my husband decided if I could have grocery money today, wether he'd slashed 1 or all 4 tyres on my car, wether I had 1 or 2 black eyes.
"Leave him" the 1 friend I was allowed would say....
Where would I run too? Financial abuse makes sure you've always got less than half a tank of gas & no cash. Isolation abuse makes sure you have no where or no one to go to. Mental abuse makes sure you believe you're not worthy of even daring to ask for anyone else's help...
