I read another short story with some lovely lessons & I believe it’s #TooGoodNotToShare ..

An elderly woman had two large pots, each hung on
the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect with no cracks.
At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
BUT the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream and said ..

I follow a lot of return to class/campus debate across the US & beyond, at all levels, PreK-PhD let’s say.

Summary: humanity wants to go back to the #beforetimes, we long for it.

Everyone WANTS to be back, everyone also wants to be as SAFE as possible.
Plan makers, both the wizards behind the curtains and most importantly individuals, need to figure out how to walk that tightrope. How to have a plan with flexibility that maintains the inherent rights of parent, student, faculty, etc.

And how to implement by building consensus.
The absolute best plan in the world can fail if individuals don’t also take ownership & embrace it.

And the absolute worst plan can still be successful if individuals are (1) given transparent information, (2) remain free to choose with minimal constraints.

It’s tough to be an intern!
As a resident, 1st priority is to provide quality care for our patients & 2nd our interns.
Here is a series of tweets on ways residents (and staff) can take care of our interns 💛

1. Give credit where credit is due. When your intern does a good job it’s best to give them props in front of the team! But if you give them props just to the attending make sure you tell them that you told the attending what a great job they did and that you appreciate them👏
2. Fall on the sword. The flip side of this is if you make a mistake as a resident make sure it’s clear to the team that it was your mistake, not your interns. This keeps morale high, and it’s honest. Nobody wants to get blamed, especially for something they didn’t do. ⚔️
