This was a really important scheme which takes rat-running traffic off small residential streets. Better air quality, safer streets for children and pedestrian and cyclists. It’s always good to listen but as councillors we need to do the right thing too.
So disappointed to see loud and angry people protesting on behalf of drivers but not speaking up for the majority who do not drive, who walk and cycle and scoot around unsafe streets.
I am also, to choose my words carefully, really extremely disappointed and surprised to see Labour councillors opposing active travel, improved safety and clean air in this way. Sincerely hope that they now plan to discuss benefits with residents and show some bravery.

Have been trying (and failing) to engage Brixton Hill councillors to create #healthystreets. Just reviewing crashes i've seen the aftermath of in the last two years. 1) Overturned car on straight section of 20mph residential street.
More to add to this thread. Still no action to tackle road violence from @BrixtonHillLab councilors. May 2018. Whoever hit this cycle lane sign left some of their vehicle behind.
May 18 - Kings Avenue. Supposedly a 20mph road but 85%ile speed is 30mph and drivers speed away from the lights.
