In Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost main island, the authorities increased the alert level on the novel coronavirus pandemic to 3 on its five-point scale in the face of emerging COVID-19 cases.
On Nov. 7, Hokkaido recorded a total of 187 new cases and Sapporo 's capital confirmed a new high of 141 cases. It was the third straight day that more than 100 new COVID-19 cases were logged by Hokkaido.
On Nov. 7, the Hokkaido authorities convened a meeting of its Health Scare Task Force and agreed to increase the alert level to 3. Only on Oct. 28th was the alert level increased from 1 to 2.
