Trying to retain your hospitalist???

Many #Hospitals and health systems struggling to retain hospitalists, why new thinking is needed?

I have made it easy for you.

@ACHEConnect @PhysiciansLead @BeckersHR @TodaysHospital
Why retain a #hospitalist?
- cost 50 to 100 k in lost productivity, recruitment of new hire
- extra cost of having #Locums and #PRNs
- Quality of care may be affected
- LOS increases by .5 days or more as per data
-takes from 6 to 12 months to get the replacement
- unstable team
What to do: I believe follows a simple process.

1. Listening/Feedback Session:
Listen to individual hospitalists:
- #surveymonkey is not okay here
- Set up a 1:1 #listening session and act on the feedback
-feel to be heard and problems acted upon

Great it you're tech-savvy, well enough to take in the info & action it on your own at home BUT
I've got a PhD, a high IQ, & been tech-savvy since the 70s but when I'm really ill I'm 'as thick as two short planks'

They need to build #hospitals & employ #humans, not buy more tech. Have you ever been through a week where someone in your organisation didn't need the tech they use #troubleshooting?
Has your tech ever gone-down?
Now imagine, you're not very well & you have to sort it out.
Brexit lost us a lot of clinical staff. The staff in hospitals now are worked to the point of breaking & beyond. The answer isn't more tech. Tech needs to be integrated into a highly effective service with enough resources to cope.

IMPROVING YOUR COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE AS A SERVICE PROVIDER DAY 1

Many service providers have found it difficult to distinguish themselves as they remain lost in the crowd.

#people #customerservice #restaurant #banks #hospitals #hospitalityindustry
They are unable to have a unique selling point hence consumers see them as not different from others who provide the same kind of service.

Over the next few days, I will be sharing tips on what can help you carve a niche for yourself in the midst of a lot of competitors.
First is that you must provide good and quality service. As a service provider, you must never get to a level where consumers complain about your service.

If you are Quick Service Restaurant (QSR), you must ensure that your food is delicious.

I want to share an analogy & call to #Hospitals to #ProtectHCWs. 2+ years yet hospitals leave workers open to PREVENTABLE death & disability. They need to held to task & REQUIRED to properly & fully protect their workers. Please join me & share this. #HCWs #Covid #LongCovid (1/3)
#HCWs DESERVE government protections, as do patients! It is unethical for them to continue to skirt proper air filtration & personal protective equipment MINIMUMS. @OSHA_DOL are you listening? #OSHA #P100 #respirators #Ventilate #HEPA #LongCovid #CovidIsNotOver #MaskUp (2/3)
Providing P100 respirators, increasing proper indoor air filtration, & testing workers regularly will help attract & retain staff. In addition to it being the RIGHT THING TO DO! Questions? Contact me #DoTheRightThing #LegislateProtection #ProtectHCWs #Nurses #ProtectRNs (3/3)

We need to talk about why Sidibe v. Sutter, the federal antitrust case whose trial started this week, is important, worth your attention & bigger than @SutterHealth. 1/10
It was filed by businesses who bought health insurance for employees. They're suing the $13B health system arguing it has used monopoly power to drive up their costs--both care for members & premiums/copays--by at least $411M over the yrs. Background: bit.ly/3HJT4Rr 2/10
The suit says Sutter does this a few ways. One is by forcing health insurers to include ALL its #hospitals in their networks if they want ANY of them. So even if you just want Crescent City & East Bay, you've got include SF, Modesto, etc. 3/10

#Physicians in #NorthDakota who speak 🗣 out on need for necessary precautions have been ostracized and dismissed. #NorthDakota lost 3 state health directors in 1st months of the #pandemic. Public health officials have had hands tied. Those who continue to speak out have 1/ Image

⚖️ LEGAL LOOKOUT 1: We’ve read with interest the amicus brief below filed by 24 health policy experts in the @texmed v. @HHSGov lawsuit, as we filed one, too.

Without any further digging, though, we can see off the bat that a majority of the so-called experts who signed

onto this brief are funded by the #insurance industry.

We respect and cherish the fact that everyone party to a significant #policy debate like this one over #regulatory implementation of the #NoSurprisesAct has a voice.

But, a question to @RonaldKlain, @SecBecerra, and

(2/8)
@BrooksLaSureCMS: How can you reconcile the fact that the administration’s #regulations rely on these bankrolled academics and experts while also claiming that these regulations help #patients and our #healthcare system? This is an alternative reality.
