I remember last holiday season my brother-in-law, a warm-hearted Cornell-educated man, told me the unvaccinated shouldn't be allowed to use hospitals.

I'll never forget that.

Him, looking me in the eyes and telling me my family was undeserving of emergency healthcare services.
Two years ago, I was fired for requesting exemption for the vaccine.

I agreed to test twice weekly, wear a mask, & eat in my office.

Note: This boarding school allowed unvaccinated students to live, dine, & take trips to NYC together.

Text from my dept. head 👇
I learned governments, administrators, co-workers, & even family and friends could quickly be taught to see me as threat.

By many, my family was deemed unworthy of healthcare, employment, travel, & education.

Some countries even made it illegal to be unvaccinated.

This is Iran!!

One drives all night on the streets that the corpse of his killed brother won't be stolen by the Regime's agents!

Another family unbury their killed son to remove it from the tombstone in which the regime has buried him without the parents' permission and
transfer the body to their family graveyard in their hometown!

A mother keeps her little kid's body killed by the regime in ice not to decay till the next morning to be buried by the family in fear of being stolen by the agents!

Another guy is forced to steal his best friend's
body from the hospital not to be buried as an unknown corpse by the agents!

Can you imagine what a horrifying nightmare we are living in?!

Stop paying lip service and supporting the Mullahs!!

We will never forget our true friends... Never!

On #HumanRightsDay, here are a mere handful of atrocities committed by the U.S. in recent memory, for which the victims still have no sight of justice. 🧵 Image
In March 2019, U.S. drones bombed a crowd of civilians in Baghuz, Syria. The drone operators in Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar recognized the crowd of civilians but dropped the bombs anyway, killing over 70 civilians in what was the worst civilian death toll in the war against ISIS. Image
In 2008, a U.S. airstrike massacred at least 47 civilians, including 39 women & children, who were escorting a bride to her wedding in Haska Meyna, Afghanistan. The bride of the wedding was also killed in the strike. Weeks later, another US attack killed 90 civilians in Azizabad. ImageImage

It's #HumanRightsDay & the 75th birthday of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. #UDHR75

@UNHumanRights @UN_HRC @UN4Ageing @WHO @UNDESA @UNDESASocial @UNGeneva @UN @UNFPA @IE_OlderPersons 2/ Reminder: #ageing is something to celebrate!

We are living longer than ever before. This is partly because of hard work to uphold the #UDHR.

But longer lives are not yet healthier lives for all. Our work to protect human rights needs to respond to a rapidly changing world.
3/ The #UDHR's Preamble starts by highlighting the 'equal & inalienable rights of all members of the human family'.

These human rights are 'fundamental' & must be universally recognised & observed.

⚠️ This commitment has no age limits!

From the start, the EU has been BLOCKING wider vaccine production globally by obstructing the #TRIPSwaiver, a proposal to temporarily waive some intellectual property rules on vaccines & other health products. This:

⚕️ goes against expert advice, and

☠️ prolongs the pandemic
"Scientists know that this cycle will prolong the pandemic — but world leaders are still failing to choose the fastest path out."

We need the #TRIPSwaiver for a #PeoplesVaccine.

Editorial in the science journal @nature: nature.com/articles/d4158…
Only 46% of the world is fully vaccinated.

In many countries, it's less than 10%.

BILLIONS of people have not even had one dose yet.

👉 The top reason is the vaccine shortage caused by the EU, UK & others blocking wider vaccine production globally.

Today on #HumanRightsDay, I'm thinking of former #Guantanamo prisoner Nizar Sassi who said, "if you want a definition of this place, you don't have the right to have rights." (Find the rest of my thoughts in the thread below.)
I'm also thinking about how, despite commemorating a day meant to celebrate universal human rights, that many in the global majority are denied these rights, with some outright expelled from the global community on the basis of being undeserving.
I'm thinking about the Palestinian people, the Sudanese people, and everywhere else across the globe where people are rising up against state violence and repression. I'm thinking of those who take their rights whether or note the state decides to bestow rights upon them.

On this #HumanRightsDay, I am exposing #AbleistAIIMS, their highly ableist culture & shocking plagiarised report. Dr Sanjay Wadhwa (PMR) & his same team of controversial non-disabled members framed guidelines for #DocsWithDisabilities in PG at AIIMS, Delhi. I wonder if this is the most ableist document ever published in the history of #MedEd in India? #AbleistAIIMS

As we celebrate #HumanRights 2021 , we are reminded of our common humanity— that regardless of race, color, religion, gender, we are a single human family, bound by a shared commitment to build a better and fairer world for all. Image
2/ We can accomplish this by relentlessly standing up for our rights, & the rights of others, at every opportunity. It also calls for empathy and fellowship, put into practice by the work of looping those in the margins into the cycle of progress and empowerment.#HumanRightsDay
3/ It requires embracing solidarity, and the conviction that an injustice committed against a fellow human person is an injustice committed against us all.#HumanRightsDay

His father was so devoted to Iran’s revolution that he named his son after the regime's founder: Rouhollah. The son turned against the system & leaked the regime’s secrets on SM. He was lured to Iraq from Paris, kidnapped by the IRGC, & today, he was executed. #HumanRightsDay
#RouhollahZam left behind two daughters. He did not have access to a fair trial & forced to confess on state TV, but even then, he defended ppl’s fight against a brutal regime that just in the past 2 years has killed 100s of protesters & dissidents. No accountability! No shame!
With each execution, the Islamic Republic sends a message to its opponents & the world that it can neither change nor tolerate dissent & that it does not fear bloodshed for its survival. This approach has increased the scope of resistance/dissatisfaction instead.

Meet Mohammed al-Masari. He’s a former physics professor and leading critic of the Saudi Arabian royal family. In 1996 he fled to the UK and sought asylum. The Saudis demanded that the British should expel him. 1/ Image
This presented the then Tory government with the opportunity to show how much it cared for human rights, an opportunity which, obviously, it flunked. 2/
Now clearly Dr al-Masari would be tortured or killed if sent back, so how could the government placate the furious Saudis w/out breaking the law? They decided to send him to Dominica, in the Caribbean.
They offered the Dominicans large amounts in aid – so it’s widely assumed. 3/

I'm so proud of the @EachOtherUk team for producing their first full length (45 min) documentary on a vital human rights issue: school exclusions.

Exclusions raise profound human rights issues, little talked about

Watch Exclusion now & spread the word:
A project which gets to the heart of what @EachOtherUk is doing, great for #HumanRightsDay:
- Foregrounds voices of those whose human rights are affected (the entire 45 mins is young people's voices)
- Engages with wider human rights values & campaigns
Huge props to @sarahwishart @jack_satchell and the team
