Last month I did videos on humanism and one of the messages I got was from someone wanting to know more about the 'pre-modern' humanists. So each day this week I'm going to tell you about one of them, from ancient China, India, Greece, and Rome.
Of course, these are humanists from before the word 'humanism' was invented. But they are people who had humanist beliefs or values in large part and expressed them.
They are the sort of people that Margaret Knight wrote about in her 'Humanist Anthology', Hector Hawton in his 'Humanist Revolution' and Harold Blackham in his 'The Human Tradition', when they set out to illustrate the perennial nature of the humanist approach to life.

I am working on developing an entirely new political messaging style for efficient low-bandwidth-high-throughput-memetic-data-transfer (’political memeing’?) as part of research on activism and change modelling with humanist perspectives for my upcoming book. #HUMANIST
This aspect of my book is inspired by @yaamyn and his blogging style. So it will be dedicated to him. Other influences include the blogging style of Tim Urban of @waitbutwhy and internet meme culture. This is the most passionate I have ever been of anything.
I guess thats an announcement for my book. The working title I have is;

The Humanist Change Handbook:
A practical guide to starting revolutions from the bedroom, hacking the fabric of things and other fun stuff.

I am not joking. #LifeInAppliedSciences #HackingTheFabricOfThings

From #Pericles to #Trump: A brief history of the West in 21 tweets (including this tweet). Purpose is to show how through the muddled history there is a direct ideological train connecting Western Civ that is meaningful to talk abt. Obvs lots is missing. it's a tweetstorm. (1/21)
753 BCE: A little town called #ROME is founded on the banks of the Tiber in #Italy. It will invent the word Emperor & become the standard for all future western empires. Its language is still used on the seal of the American President, along w/ its symbol of the Eagle. (2/21)
387 BCE: Plato founds his Academy for philosophy in #Athens. In between bouts of mansplaining & homoeroticism they trailblaze the concept of using logic & reason to make sense of the world & develop tools for doing so we still use today. (3/21)

After 70 years of imperial/neoliberal indoctrination the web of lies is so obviously absurde (9/11, Skripal, WH = ISIS, etc.), that it is dissoluting. The empathetic humanity connects, closes ranks and sends their eternal psychopathic rulers and their lackeys into nowhere land.
The "evil empire" is a lifelong three year old child. I certainly loved my children at that age too, however only because they created not only a surreal mess, but also made steady progress.

A great documentary about psychopathy and society:
The elite invented "democracy" to protect them from the empathetic people. The media are their means for misleading the people sedated by "democracy". This is definitely a bad thing since the people have become educated and the elite almost totally insane.

For #TransDayofRemembrance I want to tell you a story.

Last Nov/Dec, I was homeless. @realDonaldTrump had just been elected. I was living in my car. I was cold. I was hungry. The pain from my chronic lower back issues was horribly bad, every moment of every day (1/x)
Sleeping in my car was making it worse. I could barely stand, let alone go grocery shopping or walk longer than about 10 min, w/o being totally wiped out for the next day or 2. I was receiving no medical treatment for being #trans, for my #AtrialFibrillation or my back pain (2/x)
I was unemployed, had no degree, didn't pass, and I was severely depressed.

Only a few ppl know this, but I think it's time to talk about it. I almost died last December. I didn't have much $, but I was doing research on the best methods to kill myself that'd be effective (3/x)
