Adams County DA Dave Young needs to revisit the case of Elijah McClain. Aurora PD rushed this young man as he was walking home because they got a "suspicious" call. EM is heard saying, "I can't breathe" multiple times. An officer is heard accusing EM of trying to grab his gun....
EM then replies "I don't have a gun, I don't do that stuff" "why are you checking me" I'm pretty damn sure Elijah never reached for that officers weapon. This was a sweet young man pleading to officers "I was just going home, I'm an introvert, I'm different"

Today I messaged my sister who lives in Chile for help. As many of you are probably aware riots broke out all over the country in protest of the government in October of 2019. Now as riots break out all over here I wanted to share some of the tips she gave me --

1) Many people lost an eye due to rubber bullets, so she recommends that if you go out, that you wear goggles if you can to protect your eyes.

2) If at any point you see that they are about to shoot something listen to how the sound of the gun echoes, and stay low. When they shoot rubber bullets they have a louder sound and a bigger echo. In their riots, shotguns that can shoot gas were used and those echo less.

Police Use of force should be guided by the principles of legality, necessity, proportion, precaution and non-discrimination. These are fundamental principles of international human rights law that should bind all states. But they are not the norms in the #USA. #ICantBreath
The use of lethal force in the US is heavily decentralised. There is no federal law. It is regulated at State and municipal level and does not meet international standards which require that lethal force be the exception and only when strictly necessary to protect life.
In the US police can use lethal force where it is ‘reasonable’ on the basis of the severity of the crime at issue, if there is an immediate threat to the safety of officers or others, if he/she is resisting arrest, if there is probable cause of serious physical harm.
