#Tigray had it all. We had Ahmad ibn Ibrahim & the Ottoman Turks/The Egyptians, Italians, Menelik, Fascist Italy, Haile Selassie, Mengistu. But this genocidal war on #Tigray is incomparable to any that hitherto occurred. Its design, scope, intent, & the execution of action plans
defines its sadistic uniqueness. It was cataclysmic & is ongoing. They decided & came to eliminate #Tigrayans as people. Despite the incalculable sacrifices paid in lives lost, ethnic cleansing, genocidal rape, starvation, millions of IDPs, materials destroyed, in the end as
it has always been, our enemies have come back with unrevealed vengeance, the impact we will eventually notice & intent to rule the land of #Tigray. As things stand, they're back in, watched by #TEGARU they had tried & still desire to eliminate. Those who have not left are still

On #ICHREE’s Mandate Renewal:

@EU_Commission’s request for ICHREE’s mandate renewal is unacceptable. It had ample time for that. The narrowly extended mandate of the Commission for 1 year would be a waste of public funds. ICHREE has shown that it cannot do a professional job.
There will not be genuine cooperation with the Government of Ethiopia under these dire circumstances.
The unsolicited renewal will undermine ongoing measures taken by the Government of Ethiopia to ensure accountability for violations of international human rights and humanitarian law.

The problem for #KaariMurungi is that she is in a quasi judicial role here. And deleting her Twitter account looks like an admission of the existence of a conflict of interest.
And her prior tweets, those that have surfaced suggest she took on this quasi-judicial investigative role after having a clearly publicly expressed a position on the conflict. This should have been at the very least disclosed and addressed.
From what we know about the investigation it is clear that important public evidence and testimony about issues such as the use of child soldiers was consciously left out of the report.

Here’s a subtitled translated version of the @EthiopianNewsA interview with a former Tigrayan Journalist who is among the TPLF conscripts who have surrendered.

TPLF Is Shooting and Killing Retreating Fighters says Captured Journalist via @YouTube
It provides additional confirmation of the audio radio intercept evidence released in which a TPLF commander gives orders to shoot retreating TDF conscripts.

Forcible conscription is a war crime as is the use of child soldiers which has been a feature of TPLF’s strategy.
Captured TPLF child soldiers told their stories to Professor @afitz3105 in this ground-breaking research report published in April. macdonaldlaurier.ca/the-frontline-…

Young POWs talked about the methods of forcible recruitment in detail. The stories were corroborated by civilian refugees.

An explanation of these tweets from #KaariMurungi is now required. This is a small group of experts and if the Chair of this panel had strong partial views & went to the effort to hide those views, it further undermines the credibility of the #ICHREE.
The origins of the ICHREE are already extremely controversial. Specifically the role of TPLF lobbying inside the EU to set it up.

And the initial report which ignores the issue of child soldiers (among other flaws) is also controversial.
The latest meeting on the report suggests that the @un_hrc itself is deeply split over the ICHREE, primarily on a Western Powers/Global South axis. Which is unfortunate - and risks further undermining the effectiveness of Future @UN_HRC inquiries.

#Ethiopia's government says that the @UN_HRC-authorized #ICHREE has "weaponized human rights for political pressure and exposed its true intentions, foreclosing all doors of cooperation with the Government."

The ICHREE statement:
ohchr.org/en/statements/…
The ICHREE statement:
🔹expresses deep concern with the renewed hostilities
🔹calls on the parties to immediately cease hostilities, respect IHL obligations & return to dialogue
🔹welcomes the UNSC decision to discuss the situation & urges the UNSC to keep it high on the agenda
and
🔹"calls upon the Council to take action under the Charter needed to ensure the protection of civilians and prevent escalation that could further destabilize the region"

That last bullet is presumably what the Govt of Ethiopia found threatening.

Over the past years, we have witnessed an unimaginable amount of human suffering in Ethiopia – affecting many different ethnic groups. The scale of the humanitarian crisis in the country is just immense; and the gravity of the situation often underestimated. 4/
For Ethiopia to start its healing and reconciliation process, it will be necessary that a neutral body sheds light on the terrible atrocities and crimes that have happened (and that are sadly happening). The work of the #ICHREE will be extremely important in this regard. 5/
I am proud to have worked for the past three years for @JosepBorrellIF and @eu_eeas and to have made my humble contribution in developing and implementing the EU policies towards #Ethiopia. 6/. eeas.europa.eu/eeas/time-stop…
