In July, the media reported that @Kemsa_Kenya had distributed contaminated contraceptives to various parts of the country. - @StandardKenya
According to the reports, later confirmed by various public agencies, the contraceptives possibly became contaminated because of delays at the Port of Mombasa while awaiting clearance.
UNFPA shipped the contraceptives in question in October 2020 and failure by GoK to allocate a budget for tax clearance caused an eight-month delay. Eventually, the consignment was released after @KeTreasury requested @KRACare to waive the taxes owed.

A woman's place is in the revolution, exhibit A. The new Sudanese PM has repealed an incredibly discriminatory 'public order' law. I'm so in awe of the women of the #SudanUprising, especially how they keep saying 'thanks but this is only the beginning'.✊🏾

Health care is a human right that everyone should have access to, no matter where they live.

@EnidMuthoni1, our Senior VP of the Global Legal Program moderates a discussion on how advancements in law & policy are critical to making this a reality around the globe. #ICPD25 Image
@EnidMuthoni1 @UNFPA @UNDP @MonicaOguttu @Kmet_Kenya @SenatorNoone "Legalization [of abortion] is not enough. Affordability, acceptability, and accessibility are needed... We need to ensure rights are not just in paper but abortion is practical for women." - Sabin Shrestha, Executive Director of @fwld1995. #ICPD25

No one should die because they don’t have access to safe abortion services. But, every year, 23,000 women lose their lives due to unsafe abortions & many more are injured. Today, our President & CEO Nancy Northup took the stage at #ICPD25 to discuss how we can end this injustice. Image
"Let's talk about stigmatization of abortion - it's happening everywhere & it's happening here at #ICPD25 where only two of almost 150 sessions have the word abortion in their title... We need to move beyond the ICPD commitments of 25 yrs ago & completely decriminalize abortion." Image
"It's only through collaboration that lasting change has ever been made." Says Nancy Northup, President and CEO of the Center, pictured here with Ana Kumar, CEO of Ipas. #ICPD25 #NairobiSummit Image

It's been a month since @wilson_soli exposed that Samoa had been treating 16 people in an isolation unit with suspected measles in early October. But the @samoa_observer had been following the growing measles crisis long before that, as far back as March. #Thread #MeaslesInSamoa
In March, anti-vaxxer Taylor Winterstein wanted to charge Samoans hundreds of tala to attend a "workshop" on "choice." Dr Helen Petousis-Harris told us her advice is a public health threat. Already, NZ was facing more than 50 cases of the disease. bit.ly/33wGHE6
Head of the Ministry of Health was worried too. "One serious, virulent virus can wipe out this population in less than two weeks," he said about Winterstein's anti-vaxx agenda. bit.ly/2NwWcX0
