Since 2017, a group of 25 women in Agindigbi and Onila communities in Irepodun LGA have been contributing money to build their communities’ schools because they never had one.I visited them today & I returned the money, N1,000,000, which is equivalent of what they’ve spent so far ImageImageImage
We will continue the good work that they have started by expanding the classrooms and improving the facilities.
I’m really inspired by the actions of these women. They have, over the years, taken a fraction of the money they received from Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme and contributed it to building schools in their own communities.

We have approved the design of a new master plan for Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State, decades after the first and the last one was designed by former military regime of the late Brigadier-General David Bamigboye.
A new master plan is necessary to allow for proper development, prepare for the future, and halt unplanned growth that is creating urban slums and other avoidable crisis of development in the city.
The committee for Offa/Oyun master plan is already in place and it’s working; the one for Patigi will start soon. Same for Lafiagi, Omu Aran, and others. All our major cities will get urban master plans so that we can organise the way we live and plan our infrastructure.

Over the last two decades, General Hospital Ilorin that is meant to provide all sorts of health care services for citizens in the state has repeatedly referred patients to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) as a result of its dysfunctional Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
which lacked the availability of equipment required to carry out such treatments.

For emphasis, the facility is not just in short supply of manpower and personnel with the requisite knowledge and expertise to oversee the ICU,
the referrals over the years were also due to the fact that the ICU was ill-equipped, leading to loss of lives and bringing about hardship for patients, save for a few cases.

Kwara State now has a test center for COVID-19 that is certified by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The center is at GeneXpert laboratory, Sobi Specialist Hospital.

We made efforts to upgrade this center so as to quicken COVID-19 testing for our people.
It will also enable our health officials make prompt decision on whether to quarantine or isolate individuals who show up with or without symptoms related to COVID-19.
Another COVID-19 molecular and research laboratory is proposed at the Harmony Advanced Diagnostic Centre which will utilise Reverse transcription and PCR in real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).

In another effort at fortifying our health system, we have just added two intensive care unit Mercedes Benz ambulances to the military grade ICU ambulances we procured earlier in the year. ImageImageImage
These ambulances are fully equipped with ventilators, defibrillators, suction machines, patient monitors, oxygen concentrators, among others.

Now that we have these equipment, I am confident that the Ministry of Health will maintain these equipment and use them properly.
We will continue to support the ministry and make sure they deliver good healthcare to our people.

We'll sustain and stabilise what we're doing to revive the healthcare system in Kwara as we move to the next phase of rehabilitating our primary health care centres.
