Men of Twitter rending garments (like I am): are you being an ally or are you also self-interested? Either answer ok with me, just errr asking questions
What I mean is do you think something like “this doesn’t affect me but #Istandwithwomen” or “man I’m glad my girlfriend was able to have that abortion when we were 17” or “they’ll come for my body next” or “theocracy will be the end of my country and our freedoms” etc etc
I’m strongly of the position that patriarchy and white supremacy crush all of us.

i'm not an expert, obvs, but IMO referring to the possibility of male violence as "fantasy" multiple x in an argument seems a bit blind & demeaning. an est 6% of males are rapists, that's approx. 234mil worldwide. that's a lot of fantasies, & that's not including DV or common
assault or indeed the persistent occurrences of violent, degrading & sometimes life-threatening messages that women who don't conform to an ideology/dogma receive daily. & since rapists, abusers & misogynists usually don't have a note on their forehead claiming as such, it's
one of the female burdens to be wary of all male bodied people. if Judith Butler wants to term this fantasy, then surely it's a fantasy borne from reality & one that does its best to keep women alive & safe. to condescend that is not constructive or empathetic.

"WhY DiDnT YoU RePoRt It"

As a traumatized 16 year old, I was told (probably truthfully) by my rape counsellor -

"the police will ask you questions in a way that will make you feel like you're lying, I don't think you're robust enough for that"

independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/…
I did report it, 12 years later. A document resurfaced from my visit to A&E the morning after the incident occured. The nurse asked me if it was consensual.

Consensual, to me, as a sexually naive 16 yr old meant - did you fight him with everything you had? Not, did you say no?
My understanding, at 16, of the word consensual (or lack of) is important as 12 years later it undermined my report.

Had the nurse asked - 'did you say no' I would have given a different answer. I'm not blaming her, she was kind, I remember seeing tears rolling down her face

I will not support these orgs like Amnesty, UN Women & NOW that claim to speak for us but have #DroppedWomen from their focus. This #InternationalWomensDay I will celebrate those who stand up and fight back! List to follow. >>
> But first I celebrate my mother, one of a kind. She bore me -- along with so many burdens. She gave me life & she gave me tennis lessons when I was in awe of @Martina & just coming out. She eventually accepted my #lesbian life & she died very too young. I miss her. #IWD2020 >
> There are too many women to thank here. Maybe I'll add to this thread all year. Because I appreciate women every single day. We're all fighters. We're all amazing. With respect, #WomenOfTheYear @selina_todd @MForstater @jk_rowling @sueevansprotect @BluskyeAllison @Mason134211f
